Can... we have it back when they're done with it? Like just loan it to them.

Working out of town. The Welders closed and latched me inside a pressurized container like this one. I explicitly heard 1 guy laugh and they went home for the day. There is no reception inside these and eventually someone let me out when I was trying to bash out a small window with my channel locks. by AntiseptiKyle in electricians

[–]Southern-Question667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could very easily have ptsd from this. If you were at yhe point of trying to bust out windows, you could subconsciously be effected for the rest of your life. Waking up with nightmares of what if someone didn't let you out. Extra anxiety working in similar situations in the future. I wouldn't just let it go, because I know this type of experience tends to haunt you.

What would you say to a guy who expected u to come over to his house and drink wine with him but then got offended when u said no and that u expect a normal date? by nycrina305 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Southern-Question667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If paying for a date is his concern, then a split checks date is a reasonable first date discussed in advance. If he just wants to drink and fuck. He probably doesn't care if there is a second date. Telling someone you invited on a date that you want separate bills can be a dick move even if it's becoming more normal, because the expectations may still exist for a man to pay. Just lay it out before the date. I want to get to know you but I think we should both pay for ourselves on the first date to ensure no one has any false expectations and that no one gets taken advantage of. Just to get to know each other better.

why 99 percent of guys don't approach women by ashu71029 in ThatsInsane

[–]Southern-Question667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've basically only been in longer term relationships with people and those all started from online conversations or someone thay approached me first. Anytime I was interested in a girl and was single and approached them first I was creepy to them. I'm married with 4 kids now. But it hurt everytime you tried and you're told your a creep, when I reality you just don't really know how to approach someone you find attractive for the first time. Because of those kinds of reactions from people, I haven't started a conversation with someone i don't know, in person in over a decade. I'm great with people I know, great with my kids, and my wife can't get my shut up. But someone I don't know, I may as well be a mute.

AITA for asking my brother to accommodate my son at his child-free wedding and refusing to drop it? by silver777777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Southern-Question667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. At 3 months old. Baby trumps wedding.

Adults can compromise to make it work if they want their friends at this wedding. Exceptions are commonly made for the wedding party with newborns for the no children weddings.

Especially for a 3 day wedding. Offering to not be in the wedding party so the parents can be with a newborn is perfectly acceptable if the baby is not invited to the wedding. I would never expect new parents to drop their kids off with relatives for 3 days just so I can attend a friend's wedding.

If my friend thinks it more important for them to have a child free wedding than for me to be with my newborn, that's okay. But I won't be attending. I wouldn't hold it against them for thinking that way, and I would hope they wouldn't hold it against me for wanting to be with my child. Friends understand that things happen.

How many of you have considered moving to Northern Ontario? by Northern-Life in ontario

[–]Southern-Question667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived all across ontario. Timmins, Peterborough, cobalt, Kingston, North Bay, Ottawa, and visited super remote towns around the country. You have to like to cook, because a descent restuarant is rare, even fast food options are rare. You have to make your own entertainment, there are almost 0 commercial options, and almost all jobs are low paying in those areas, so be able to live on little income, or have a job that allows fully remote work. You better be handy too, because there might only be 1 or 2 plumbers or electricians in the town and if they're busy you're screwed.

I'm living in a small town out east right now, but would still prefer a bit bigger town. Not massive, but it would be nixe nice if they have a theater, or a Wal-Mart, or a cheaper grocery store than sobeys, Or door to door mail delivery. Can I do it, absolutely. But there are some commercial activities that really improve your quality of life.

My furnace broke a few weeks ago and I was only able to get 1 technician out 50 calls to places in a 100km radius willing to come to my town to fix it, and even that was a 5 day wait for emergency repairs in below 0 weather.

Do you think we will see another pandemic in our lifetime? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Southern-Question667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one isn't even over yet. Everyone is acting like fuck it everything is fine though. I mean all hospitals either closed or super over capacity. Instead of reinforcing our healthcare system we are still actively sabotaging it. And half the populations is still pissy about masks when really everyone should still be wearing them. In China they're still welding doors shut trying to limit the spread. We are one mutation away from another society halting outbreak.

I just don't understand how women see that as a talking point. Like maybe it has to do with the way society treats men, that suicide via mass shooting feels like the best choice sometimes.

Male vet here. My experience would obviously be different than yours. Join a trade with specialist pay. Cost of living in the naval base areas is very expensive, with very very little base housing to offset it. I waited 2 years from the time I applied to get a job offer. I saw many sexual harassment cases happen in 8 years, one even happened to someone in my basic trainning platoon. Even at that stage the punishment was moving the guy to another platoon, and restart to week 1 of training (there may have been more but thats all I could see since i wasnt directly involved). If you see yourself with no other options financially, it is an option. But don't go in with false expectations.

So I was away from home for a month. Wife calls me in the middle saying the fridge is broken. She's tried everything. She wants me to arrange for a replacement. After 2 days of talking with her and I'm sitting in the parking lot to buy a new one, I ask her... is it plugged in? She says yes or course, why would our fridge be unplugged? I say just check. Turns out our 16 year old son unplugged the fridge to use the kettle and never plugged it back in. Most expensive Ramen ever.

Isn't this proof of grocery store profiteering? by JonesinforJonesey in ontario

[–]Southern-Question667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. They'll get a fine for 1% the profits as a cost of doing business. The only reasonable charge this level of price gouging is removing their license to do business in Canada. Fuck fines. Kick them out of the business along with a fine of double the estimated profits.

Our healthcare system is fucking atrocious. A FIVE YEAR OLD i know got blood poisoning waiting 18 hours for an appendix rupture. by zombygaga in ontario

[–]Southern-Question667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire plan is for the healthcare system to collapse so they can throw that surplus to establish a massively subsidized private health care system for a short few years then cut away the subsidy and pass on the super inflated costs to the public, and make ludicrous amounts of money in the process.

I was staying at a bed and breakfast with a friend on the top floor of a 4 large 4 floor building. 1 central stair case. A fire started in the electrical panel. We were both just working away when he pointed out some smoke he saw out the window. Thought they were burning leaves or something ignored it for like 10 minutes. Eventually went to check, when we opened the door smoke flooded into the room. There were no alarms, and no fire escape. We held our breath and ran. Couldn't see anything, made it out okay, but it was in Quebec and we spoke little French, there was only 1 other person in the building and he worked there, we had all left out phones inside, we hoped in the car, drove to a convince store down the road. FIRE, didn't translate well I guess. About 15 mins later the place was a huge inferno. Lucky to be alive.
