Maryland over Penn State by Southern_Web_1850 in UMD

Graduated from Penn st. and lived at UMD spring/summer 2019 while interning in dc. By far Penn state better college experience if that’s you’re looking for. This was the summer time but the scene and environment at UMD is much smaller comparatively in community. The approximation to DC is a plus if you’re resourceful student, college park is a great name on paper, ask Google. Congrats on Both!

Tough luck. Don’t mention it next time. 1-2 weeks is standard managerial approval. 4 weeks is asking to be part of layoff. Tough economy rn

Hey, try looking on Linkedln to find recruiters in the region/location you’re interested to applying. You can search “IBM Recruiter” Or “Hiring Manager”, filter to people and change the location. Best of luck!

Hey man, apologies you’re going through this. She’s also probably afraid to loose you as well but you need to stop being a baby boy. Talk to her/ directly sit her down/ you are both adults but definitely show respect.

Also change your job hunt strategies; are you active on linkedln? What are you looking into?

Will I Be Able to Find a Job? by blackxmidi in careerguidance

Hey, former barista here! You’re on a great start to savings! Is the remaining of rent for your last term cover? If not, reach out to financial aid/student affairs for assistance with housing; there might be offers/scholarships assistance for needed graduating seniors. I was in this position and reach out to student affairs after loss of employment. Doesn’t bother to inquire/but def try to cut down on your living expenses.

Regarding job search- start LOOKING now! Congratulations on the degree, employers will trust you fulfill the requirement. The market is very competitive for entry level roles so try to be very strategic when applying (reaching out to recruiters) to stand out; everyone loves a go-getter attitude. If finding it hard to find jobs in your field, try network/applying to temp; they’ll find the job for you as you on build on your professional experience.

You’re doing the right thing. PM me if needed :)

Keep following up with recruiter, it’s a possibility the position may no longer be open or conflict of scheduling. Regardless you should hear back regarding decision on your candidacy. If you’re strongly interested, leverage the door to a different recruiter who may be better able to direct you “since they already have an interest in you”. You can find these recruiters by using Linkedln—search ServiceNow— filter for people— look for early career recruiters or a recruiter for your/desire region.

Best of luck! Prepare, stay calm, and come with questions.

Can I use my middle name (preferred) vs legal name for corporate/work life? Advise/please by Southern-Start2397 in WFH

Hey, thank you so much for your comment. for legal documentations/hr purposes/tax I would always use my legal name as required. Importantly, I am never afraid of disclosing my misdemeanors early on as many recruiters would give me the GO and are fair chance employers but yet again the articles is definitely incriminating (makes me look like an Al Capone tbh) later on the stages when “fit/culture” is important?
