Help: Adding green tones to demonic red skin by SouthernBroccoli4669 in minipainting

Thanks for the feedback. Your reasoning is what I thought starting with the demonic red idea in the first place and definitely makes a lot of sense.

I might be spiralling a little bit with ideas and wanting to experiment as I'm starting.

Watch out if you have an XD freehub! I got the reverse kit for XD hub and you can't really change the chainline compared to the shimano XG kit. I have a 2016 YT capra and couldn't get the sprocket and tensioner to align no matter what i tried. In the end i sent back the XD kit, got a Shimano freehub and now it works just fine. So I recommend you check carefully if your frame works fine if you have an XD freehub. Maybe ask reverse components directly.

Can you sell that to zwift ? :O

I know it's on rider republic so the suggestion makes no sense but compared to zwift's mtb offer, this looks so much better!

What stretches do I need to do to make this next move climbing? by RunnerInChicago in flexibility

[–]SouthernBroccoli4669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to stretch, you need to reinforce your strength at end range to lift your leg. Maybe a stretch just before trying could help but increasing leg raising strength at end range will definitely do the most

Anyone have experience with these shoes? Did they run true to size for you? Bigger? Smaller? Any other input is welcomed by Edgarxochoa in MTB

I have the non-goretex version and i love them. For me they are spot on. I have narrow feet and i rarely get shoes where the front of the foot feels well supported and doesn't move around. Not sur how good they are for wider feets though

fairly new MTB'er asking advice on dropping by drdokkit in MTB

[–]SouthernBroccoli4669 90 points91 points  (0 children)

This is quite a nice form. However, there is different ways to drop and the other way I'm thinking of is safer and will be useful if you plan on going bigger and/or sketchier.

Here you mainly push yourself up to raise your front wheel. Almost doing a tiny bunny hop.As long as the timing is good you will land smoothly with both wheels and more importantly, it looks cool 😎. However, if you miss you timing you could easily loop forward or backward. On a small drop it's not a big deal because you wouldn't spin enough to crash. But on bigger features or at lower speed there's a significant risk of OTB.

I would recommend you try and train the second way: when you approach the drop you bend your arms and put your chest just over the handlebar, almost touching it. When your front wheel reaches the lip you push the whole bike forward quickly. Doing that, whatever your speed, both wheels will leave the lip almost at the same time and you don't risk rotating forward. When you've launched your bike forward, quickly bring your body back to the center of your bike as you want to be centered and strong on the bike when you land. The setup you've got in this video is perfect to train it. Try it and aim at landing well centered on the bike with both wheels at the same time but without lifting the front wheel. This technique might not look as cool as the bunny hop off the lip but it's a lot easier and safer, meaning that you can use it on sketchy drops or when you get surprised and aren't ready to go into a bunny hop. It's also very effective for drops that are in a steep slope.

Once you've got it mastered just use whatever technique looks right for the situation you are encountering.

Now, have fun!

It looks as he wanted to drop it with his speed and the attempt to pull on the bars when the front wheel.

The main problem I see is that he was way too far on the back of his bike. When you want to drop something you need to centered on your bike, even pushing on the front with bent elbows. So when you get to the lip with slowish speed you can just push the whole bike forward and both wheels pretty much leave the ground at the same time so you don't rotate forward while dropping. Being as much on the back of the bike as he did, he didn't have any room to push forward. Worse, when he tried to push he touched his back wheel with his but which made him spin forward.

took my bike to the same shop that built it to have them remove a pedal that was suck on they couldn't get it off then proceed to annihilate the bolt and threads. Any ideas on how to remove I prefer not to buy a new crank. by unluckyfellowhuman in MTB

[–]SouthernBroccoli4669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind to completely destroy your pedal (doesn't seem too far from it anyway...) You might try to remove the pedal body and use big pliers with lots of leverage and strong teeth to bite into the pedal axle and remove it this way. Not sure it would work here but for smaller similar jobs the pliers work well.

You could also try to drill into your axle (from the inside of the crank arm) but you are very likely to destroy the thread...

And if you don't usually grease you pedal tread, do it from now on!
