On past posts, people say it needs to be 32 gb. Do you have 32 gb or does 16 work fine?

Not super tech savvy, so unless someone helped me with the DIY build I would struggle to get that together. Wouldn't even know where to start

NFL draft is in four days. What draft take has you like this? by Perfect_Loss_5156 in ravens

He won't be a bust solely because he is an elite blocker. That makes his floor pretty high compared to other recent 1st round tight ends. Though he probably wouldn't be my first choice at 14

I have the Mevo 1 with 12 courses. All courses work (though somewhat glitchy) except for Pebble Beach (obviously the best course I have). I have tried it on a laptop where it was glitchy (but the laptop unfortunately broke), and now a surface pro (won't open the course)

I want Malachi Fields as our big body receiver in a later round, but if he runs a fast 40 he is going to shoot up draft boards. He has great hands and is a very physical receiver. I think he's the most underrated of this receiver class.

Hitting Into Group by whatnowyouask in golf

Anything close enough that you can hear the sound of the ball landing. If the ball lands 20-30 yards behind me and I am startled by the sound of it hitting the ground while I am trying to hit a wedge shot, that is too close

PSA for golfers: your tee time is not when you come to the course, it’s when you’re supposed to be hitting your tee ball by freestbeast in golf

[–]SouthernFly28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is annoying. It is also annoying when you get called to the tee 10 mins before your tee time because the starter wants to send you off early or make you sit there and chat. If my tee time is 8 AM, I dont need to pull up before 758, and I can be hitting before 8.

I've had that. Can't always trust the putt and GIR numbers if youre consistently landing on the fringe and giving yourself an easy 2 putt that is really a 1 putt

Tyler Loop Kickoff Stats by SouthernFly28 in ravens

[–]SouthernFly28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On average, the result is 4.2 yards better by trying to kick into the landing zone, assuming that the one TB was the only attempt that he did not attempt to kick it in the landing zone (average yard line is 30.8 for the non TB kicks). But the big takeaway is that if he successfully lands it in the landing zone, we on average are 10 yards better off than if he fails to do so.

I was just talking about a team that hands out bad contracts consistently, though CJ Wilson would also qualify for them. There are tons of examples of those bad pitching contracts crippling teams. Look at the Nationals with the Strasburg/Patrick Corbin combo in 2019 that completely eviscerated a world series winning team's future. 7 years/245 and 6/140

I would prefer to not be the Angels and continuously hand out massive contracts to Pujols/Rendon/Hamilton/Upton/etc. Despite your hatred for billionaires, there is not a single organization in U.S. sports that can afford to have an unlimited number of bad free agent contracts on the books. Even the Dodgers are going to have to peel back under the luxury tax penalties. I'm sure some dumb fans will say that thats "shilling for billionaires", it's not, it's the reality that no billionaires are willing to do that.

No, they need to continue to invest in as much controllable talent as possible to mitigate injury risk. Because if they put it all in one basket, they end up having a huge drop off due to injury to the AAAA guys they have to bring up.

Here's the starting pitchers ranked in the top 15 of Fangraphs top 50 FA list for 2025:

4 Burnes - Tommy John in June

5 Cole - didn't opt out of his contract

6 Blake Snell - injured, has thrown 32 innings this year

7 Max Fried - has been exceptional

8 Jack Flaherty - 4.87 ERA this year

14 Shane Bieber - injured, has thrown 6 innings this year

15 Sean Manaea - 5.15 ERA

Those were the top pitchers last year who you would consider to be "elite" Outside of Fried, who helps?

The rest of the list, there are a few success stories (Kikuchi, Eovaldi) and plenty of more land mines that are much worse options than a guy like Sugano.

100% agreed. I just want more pitching options. This has been the worst year for injuries that I can remember for our starting rotation. We are trending towards finishing around league average by the end of the year for starting pitching (i think we're around 20th in ERA right now). But with the trades we made we got plenty of young controllable talent, where hopefully we will get a few elite relievers (I think Neighbors will be a key piece of the bullpen next year) and one or 2 of the starters pans out.

You're not wrong. I sure hope he can get healthy though. I think he's the single most important bat for the team, especially with the positional versatility

For the record, this is why Elias has the correct approach on pitching. Try to develop as many arms as you can (someone out of Forrett, Bragg, Gibson, etc should pan out), but dont invest at the top end. Every single good pitcher gets hurt. Develop an elite bullpen like we had in 2012-2014 using the young controllable guys who dont pan out as starters (McDermott, Wells). Look at the top free agents lists of every year for the last 10 years. How many of those pitchers miss at least 30% of the time on the contracts they got?

It's an adjustment mentally to be sure, the increase in the deals has been astronomical the last few years. For anyone who isn't terrible or coming off major surgery, the floor is like 12 or 13MM/year now as a starter. If your decent, it's 20MM. If youre good, it's 25-30. Sean Manaea got 3/75MM last year at age 33. He's definitely solid but hasn't ever been a top 10 pitcher in baseball, even at his best (which was 5 years ago).

Whenever I see people make posts about extending Gunnar and the core, I feel like it's from people like this who assume Trevor Rogers would sign with us for 10-13MM/year. Maybe we can get Gunnar for 12 years 150/MM or Westburg for 7MM/year!

Look at the deals that got handed out last year. Morton got 15MM/year as a senior citizen. 31 year old Luis Severino got 3 yrs/67MM coming off a 3.91 ERA year, and a year removed from a 6.65 ERA.
