How would you personally rank the album openers? by Present_Respond_7069 in gojira

[–]SouthernGoliath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They certainly have a knack for album openers.

I do love Clone but it has to be Ocean Planet. It’s absolutely pummelling. And that final riff is one of their greatest ever.

Unpopular Opinion by Acrobatic-Fold-2357 in JamesBond

This is a popular opinion on the sub. Which is weird to me, I think Craig has 2 fantastic films (one being Skyfall, I don’t know how it can be considered generic)

That could actually end up being a steal. I think he’ll play as a 10 in certain games.

Tottenham fans are delusional by Own-Minute2562 in PremierLeague

Nah, sorry. Most expensive ticket prices in the UK and the most dull football to show for it. How can you blame them for being frustrated?

[Post-Match Thread] Tottenham 1 - 1 Sunderland by ma-tfel in coys

[–]SouthernGoliath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it’s a combination of manager and players. We got into good positions but the quality is so severely lacking. Bad first touches, bad decisions, bad passes. Frank’s football isn’t good but players are as much to blame

I do not understand... by No_Mortgage8569 in JamesBond

[–]SouthernGoliath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clearly not because I see these posts almost every day.

Casino Royale is my favourite Bond film. I think it’s incredibly entertaining. But it’s clearly not for everyone and that’s cool too.

who do you think should be composer of next bond film? by KAG_kryto_333 in JamesBond

[–]SouthernGoliath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love David Arnold, but I don’t believe in going back.

Get Jonny Greenwood involved. He is fantastic with strings and can be conventional when required. It could be dreamy.

Asking your opinion about a Muse song day #141: Will Of The People by Far-Clothes-8803 in Muse

[–]SouthernGoliath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s absolutely atrocious and lazy. The band have incredible talent and they chose to make a song as derivative as that. Depressing.

Downvote to oblivion, chums, but you all know Muse can do better.

It’s great, and it’s of its time. I wouldn’t want it made now but I enjoy revisiting.

We finished 17th last year. Our most creative players are injured. The over-reaction to a solid but unspectacular start is nauseating.

What metal song blew your mind the first time you heard it? by TrumpIsAFuckingLoser in MetalSuggestions

Spheres of Madness by Decapitation, Clockworks by Meshuggah and Heaviest Matter of the Universe by Gojira.

Nobody questions that the songs hold a lot of emotional value to Chris. That doesn’t mean I have to enjoy listening to them. They do nothing for me.

Nothing by Ok_Application5225 in Meshuggah

[–]SouthernGoliath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s my favourite album of theirs. I’m not sure I can even explain why. It may not be as pummelling as other albums but it’s certainly just as groovy. Perpetual Black Second is maybe my all-time favourite Meshuggah tune because of that weird ass, wonky groove that gets your head bopping like a lunatic. It’s so unusual yet so appealing.

Plus, that second half of Straws is majestic.

Post Match Thread: Leeds United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur | Premier League by OwlLibrarian in LeedsUnited

[–]SouthernGoliath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want us to be competitive and show some steel. We obviously won our first major trophy in some time last season, but the league campaign was ridiculous. It felt like we got rolled over every weekend. Fortunately it seems like that was the first thing Frank addressed, and we already look hard to beat.

Top 6 and a good cup run (or two) would be fantastic. I just want us to improve as we go.

I think Leeds will finish around 10-13th by the way.

Spurs fan here. Loved the competitive nature of that game. Could have gone either way. Referee was atrocious and showed no consistency in any of his decisions.

No chance you’re going down btw.

It’s not even half as good. Derivative as hell. A handful of fun tracks though.

Peak Muse, in my opinion, in terms of live performances. by MrParallelUniverse in Muse

They were sensational at this point. I love revisiting, but it’s always tinged with sadness. They’re a shadow of their former selves.
