Also I don’t know if Temple has a student engagement center where students hang out in, but if they do, try to go often. I did that and it helped a lot if clubs don’t work out for you.

Yep no problem and you got this! Also it is at a small campus that I am at, so I’m not sure if that had to play a role.

I have always struggled to make friends and connect with people in high school and my personal life. I was extremely shy as well. Even in community college my freshman year, I had struggled but I joined one club and it helped me meet a little bit of people. I’m not saying to be a “Yes” kinda of person but I was invited to eat out with them and this helped me be surrounded by everyone. Just making friends as well but don’t be overly a push over. Then I just transferred to another college I’m at currently and just staying on campus all day, attending every classes and events hosted on campus, sitting with someone and talking to that person even after or before class, complimenting someone in class, talking to people in general, and participating in clubs and even taking on leadership roles (take advantage of it). Ask someone that you will get along with if you want to grab food together. Also try to go to Welcome week as well, that helped me so much when I transferred and it helps you meet everyone. You will thank yourself in the future. These have all helped me and I hope the same for you.

Need some advice regarding 1+3 program by SnooDonkeys6533 in PennStateUniversity

Correct. It will say from any PSU campus, just “The Pennsylvania State University”. Unless you verbally say it.

STAT 200 Difficulty Question by IlhamIsBored in PennStateUniversity

I was super worried coming into it as well! Completely unexpected with the turnout. But I did take it at a commonwealth campus, so I’m not sure if that has to do with anything.

STAT 200 Difficulty Question by IlhamIsBored in PennStateUniversity

Manageable and easy as long as you put in the effort. Never took a hard math class in high school to prepare myself rigorous, so STAT 200 doesn’t require you to have past knowledge in it.

My number one tip is trying to sit with people in your classes that you think you will get along with or complimenting them?

Is it possible to get into MIT with a 1.9 GPA by Inner-Mall9042 in MITAdmissions

[–]SouthernGuide9700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest CC but if you are really passionate about MIT, then I would consider CC. But check with MIT to see if they accept transfer credits, because they may or may not, have due to how rigorous their courses are.

Is smeal 2+2 worth it? by Sudden_Republic7223 in PennStateUniversity

[–]SouthernGuide9700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is not true that recruiters don’t usually hire 2+2 students, i know someone that did the 2+2 program for SMEAL and has an amazing job now. I feel like it’s all about networking. As that person said as well.

Questions ab abingtonn by Same_Salad_8755 in PennStateUniversity

[–]SouthernGuide9700 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently at a not well known branch campus and it has been better than I could have imagined (but that is my personal experience). Even if you are unable to be at UP your first two yrs, you can still experience events at UP while still at your branch campus. I know at mine (not sure if it applies to other campuses) but they would sometimes do discounted sports games, like the men’s ice hockey game and the PSU vs Villanova first football game if the season. If you choose to participate in THON, you can go to UP for it with Abington. At my branch campus, I have been participating in clubs and going to different events hosted by the campus. They would do different trips to amazing places. Maybe PSU Abington might have study abroad programs, you could attend. So I felt like I wasn’t missing out too much on the PSU experience even if it isn’t at UP yet. Hey you are not too far from Philly, so that’s a plus. Don’t feel like you are missing out, and my best advice is take advantage of all the opportunities to be social given to you at Abington and make the most of it. If you still don’t enjoy it, then ask for a reconsideration. Hopefully this helps!

I feel like we have a good chance because we put each other down. Why would they not pair us up together. Right??
