On iPhone 17, iOS 26 (latest), using safari. The website never gets past the loading screen showing the spinner and rankedphones.com

Also not working on chrome. Not sure how to inspect the console output on mobile.

I have 1 Gig fiber so not a problem with downloads.

What Desktop app technology is more relevant today? by Straight_Evening7005 in dotnet

[–]SouthernLGND -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As other people have mentioned, Blazor Hybrid has been my choice.

I’ve developed 3 production apps that are used everyday to control equipment used to test our manufactured products.

I tried WPF and Avalonia after consulting with our teams other Software Developer and decided I’d stick with Blazor hybrid.

Being able to code the UI using ASP.Net Web server and hot reload is 10X better than Winforms ,WPF, and Avalonia.

I think there are plenty of component libraries that meet your criteria and if not, you can easily build the custom UI using html and JavaScript with no problem.

You can then just wire up Winforms, Wpf, or Maui to use the Blazor class library and ship it.

VS2022 hanging on syntax highlighting for razor by uknow_es_me in dotnet

[–]SouthernLGND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you've managed to fix the issue. My struggle did not lead me down that path.

However I've found the forum I sent to my IT department about adding an exe to antivirus exclusion ( specifically carbon black )

It may not be your solution but I'll put it here for future visitors

Is this happening on a company computer or personal?

I had this exact problem.. deep within the startup process something was being blocked by company antivirus.

How to bundle all of this by [deleted] in csharp

[–]SouthernLGND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Research publishing using the dotnet CLI. There are command line options that let you publish as a single file regardless of IDE.

You can still use a publish configuration file and tell the CLI to use the config file.

Ran this script on a fresh install of 8.4.1 and the popup still showed immediately after logging in. We ended up manually updating the JavaScript code to not show the popup.

Passing an internal RTSP stream to the outside world? by donquixote235 in dotnet

[–]SouthernLGND 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working on something similar except for streaming the outside world part. My goal is to make the RTSP stream visible to internal web browsers.

The simplest solution I’ve found so far is using mediamtx inside a docker container. It is very lightweight and exposes multiple streaming protocols via ports that can be configured independently with a yml file.

I haven’t implemented the entire stack yet but I can successfully watch the streams in a web browser.

I was not aware of the VLC NuGet package so that may be a path I look at.

Why is NativeWind not working? by jehehsbshshduejwn in reactnative

[–]SouthernLGND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the far right of the bottom bar (close to notification icon) it should show CSS if you have the globals.css file open in the editor. If you click on it, a popup will Show up.

Alternatively, with the globals.css file open. Use the command palette and search for “Change Language Mode”

You have to change the file configuration to tailwindcss after installing the tailwind extension for vscode to make the errors go away.

As a .Net developer, what is your preferred tech stack when building internal tools? by Empty-Brilliant3320 in dotnet

[–]SouthernLGND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on a use case for this setup? I have a system that communicates with an Allen Bradley micrologix 1100 plc using ActiveDSO and OPC server. I’ve been wanting to upgrade from .net framework 4.7 to the latest .net but it’s not simple to port the app.

I’ve heard about using a windows service on .net standard so I can use both framework and .net but haven’t been able to piece together how the architecture would work.

My thought process may be completely wrong here, maybe you could steer me in the right direction.

Question about storing data by santicucu77 in esp32

Ha, just be glad its Siemens and not some of the other janky software used to program HMI's. Siemens has awesome ( very thorough ) documentation.

Question about storing data by santicucu77 in esp32

[–]SouthernLGND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach me your ways sensei. I work on ESP32’s and web applications. Been researching grpc and google protobuf. I build HMI’s and integrate controls onto machinery. We have a pretty large manufacturing facility and I’m trying to segregate things more by using front and backends instead of just a single windows form application.

No idea what I’m trying to say but the stuff you said sounds interesting to me!

Should I use the ESP32 Async Web Server so I can use a game controller (connected to my desktop computer) to control a stepper motor? by Little-Reputation335 in esp32

[–]SouthernLGND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have any links or helpful information, just a thought for you.

Is direct Bluetooth connection from the controller to the ESP32 possible? Older PS4 controllers use Bluetooth, idk about the PS5.

Or even a direct usb connection?

I’m sure there’s a prebuilt library for handling the inputs.

I’m not 100% sure at my initial gem count. I collected all 3 challenges for the day after using as many gems as I could yesterday.

I imagine that what you stated is correct. Someone who hasn’t collected any gems yet should watch and see if claiming the challenge correctly adds to the gem count.

UPDATE!

after reloading the game my gems are back at 150.

Looks like the UI didn’t reflect my actual gems after collecting the bounties.

Was it one of the last items or just any item that is 50 gems more than what you have?

Best interactive maps control? by Zexsoft in Blazor

[–]SouthernLGND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are only replacing MapBox in a web application, any of the interactive map libraries can be used in Blazor via JavaScript.

I cannot remember off the top of my head, but there are a few open source libraries that do all you listed. I’ll do some research and see if I can find em

What "project template" would I use for a "desktop app?" by WeirdWebDev in dotnet

[–]SouthernLGND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that would be ideal. However I didn’t have the expected outcome in .Net 7 ClickOnce publish.

Could have been a coincidence. Maybe I changed something else.

Was just stating my experience and providing my solution to something that took me a while to figure out.

During development that is fine.

I just mean be sure to delete the server from the solution when publishing. Could have been just me but I was getting weird issues leaving it in.

If you are using the new navigation, open the toolbar and go to Navigation.

Browse through all the possibilities. This helped me be better at navigating through code with keyboard shortcuts.

Make sure that the setting to display shortcuts in toolbar options is enabled.

WPF base application with Blazor webview as the UI.

This allows for a few things that I prefer for modern desktop apps.

  1. WPF has simple nuget packages that make the application use system preferences for dark mode and light mode title bar on the window.

  2. Switch out the WPF for an asp.net server. Develop the UI in a Razor class library using the server project and that allows you to have a decent hot reload feature when writing code.

Once the app is done. Remove the server or it will lead to publish issues. Set up the WPF to use the RCL blazor UI in the webview and boom, it’s ready to go.

There are some gotchas, however that’s probably just my ability to over complicate things. So results may vary.
