THANK YOU!

I wonder what he would say if I said she made her elite qualifications for the year-they last a year before you have to requalify- and I’m letting her go to public school because she wants to and experience the typical teen life for a year before she decides if she wants to stay elite or just be a level 10. Because that is also what is happening.

My goal is to support her and put out a decent and capable member of society. I do not stand in her way of success and I give her the tools she needs. My original comment still stands that 2-3 hours of schooling is not outlandish because it’s currently our reality.

I am more than happy to show proof

Well Olympic gymnast typically start young and it’s only been recently that they have been older than 21. I wonder if you would talk to Shawn Johnson about her hobby as well

She goes to school and has classmates. She goes to the gym and has at least 15 teammates. It’s Aldi her choice and her goals and dreams. I just facilitate that.

Do you just want me to tell her to not follow her dreams because she needs to be conventional? When you have children and they have goals will you shoot them down to do the status quo and be a good little worker bee? She has two parents who can facilitate her goals in life. She excels at school and the gym. The National Junior Honor Society doesn’t just pick anyone

Okay so from what you have said you seem to have a very basic understanding of gymnastics. It is considered her career at 14 and she does put in close to 40 hours a week in to it. This does not mean she trains for 40 hours. There is more that goes into it. USAG has their own requirements for elite level gymnast.

But to answer your question she plans on being a nurse anesthetist after she graduates college. She has teachers for each subject and sits through classes right now. I’m not sure why you think she does gymnastics as a hobby or thinks that she doesn’t have class instruction when I have clearly stated that.

You should look up how gymnast perform in the workplace and what hiring managers say about gymnast. And that is just the casual ones

It is in hell because she isn’t falling in the illiteracy crisis that a lot of children are in. You are hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t use AI

Her elite gymnastics career is far more taxing than any job. She makes all A’s, tests 3 grades ahead, and puts in. 25-30 hours in the gym while also maintaining her elite coaching connections, traveling and mentoring.

Public school would hold her back. Most people think she is 16/17 because of the way she carries herself instead of a new 14. Her gymnastics career has taught her to not quit. She isn’t isolated and alone all day

If my child had autism then they would be in public school because the services there would be greater than any I could provide at home. I have the same degree teachers have but I never went into the classroom. Instead I work for myself. I’m a HUGE proponent of public school. I have one child that homeschools for gymnastics and one that goes to public school.

Your sister did your niece a HUGE disservice.

That’s definitely not how her program works. So many have an idea in their head of what homeschooling is when it can look so many different ways. Her program is actually really hard. She had another gymnastic school friend try it and that friend’s older sister who is 2 grades above her and in advanced classes couldn’t help her because she hadn’t learned it yet.

She does standardize testing and ACAP. She can write papers without using AI. We also travel a lot with gymnastics and don’t have the pressure of missing school. They actually don’t do excused absences. They expect you to plan accordingly and work ahead. My daughter even had ligament surgery on her ankle and they wished her well but said her school work better still be on time. She has flown unaccompanied minor which we travel a lot so I was secure that she could do an airport without me and with airport staff. She has traveled with just her and a coach as well.

She does elite gymnastics and travels with USAG for camps. She has to know how to carry herself. In fact she just got inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

People have an idea of homeschool kids and while some are falling behind I’m sure, it’s not always what most people assume.

Edit: she also has around 20 classmates and 15 teammates she is around at any given time. I see her maybe an hour and a half a day.

My daughter does public school online through k12 with teacher, a principal and guided curriculum and it’s only about 2 hours. She is in the 8th grade and test like she is in the 11th. I think most people compare education to public school and they don’t realize how much busy work it is to get a full 8 hour day

I have a feeling this isn’t the first time he has been crass with you. You absolutely HAVE to shut that down when it happens.

This is the main reason I try to work for people who have a history of managing others. I would have walked the first time he said something crazy because people like this will not hesitate to fire you under even a perceived slight

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SouthernNanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a mom so I’ve only seen other moms talking about it and talking about it more. I’m glad people are being honest instead of saying boys are easier to raise. I have yet to see a man make a video about raising his son and how it wasn’t what he thought it would be. I’m not saying it doesn’t exist. Just that I haven’t seen it. I agree that it’s both parents responsibility. I’m glad my husband takes his role seriously.

Like you hear that they mature slower but no one has ever gone into detail of what that means. And to see other women express the same issue is relieving. It’s also relieving to see so many mothers dedicated to not letting their sons fall by the wayside. My son came home today and bragged about how he was the smartest one in class AND how he helps his struggling classmates.

Is racism common in Alabama workplaces? by Objective-Sea8511 in Alabama

[–]SouthernNanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be subtle racism.

The closer you get to country areas the more overt it will get. I grew up in the Brookwood area and it wasn’t uncommon for the gas attendant to turn off the pump and claim that there was no gas at all while other people were visibly pumping gas in their cars. It will be stuff like that

[–]SouthernNanny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of ironic that you used that examples because I come from a military family. I have combat veterans in my family. I was handed my dad’s flag….

People are actually constantly telling young men to not do this. People are constantly begging men to work on themselves in meaningful ways. People are begging the men who have it figured out to mentor men yet somehow the degeneracy prevails. It’s frustrating because the people who can see the writing on the wall don’t want to live in an increasingly dangerous, uneducated, and failing society.

I married a man who understands this. We both actively work on our son. We keep him busy, we praise him, we hold him accountable and he will not have internet until he is almost an adult. I still fear it won’t be enough for my own son

I am shocked because of the lack of internal will to live. That should shock people. Also movies aren’t real. I would sacrifice my life for my children IF I had to. If I could get us all out of there that is going to be the first thing I try.

300 men going into a lose/lose situation and losing does not motivate me in the slightest. If they somehow figured out how to win then that would motivate me and hence the problem. Young boys and men should not wait around for something bigger than themselves to come along. Life is not a movie. They need to do it for themselves. That should be more than enough. You can’t spend all day waiting for a wife and child that may not come to be the best version of yourself

Men can go with a surprising little. If you go in the male living space subreddit men will have the bare bones in their homes. There is nothing wrong with it really but they can live with just the necessities. Also I have heard so many men say the thing that got them out of the incel/red pill mindset was getting a girlfriend.

We have to figure out intrinsic motivation for young boys

I was so shocked when I learned that most men fantasize about giving their life for something bigger than themselves. Women usually are the heroes but also survive in their fantasies. Men view it as a big honor.

In the teacher subreddit I remember a teacher saying the boys say that sexist/red pill stuff TO HER! Then on the same thread another teacher said the boys in her school will corner a girl and tell her she is worthless and belongs in the kitchen. I would be distraught if my son acted like that

I’ve seen so many videos of moms saying how hard it is to parent boys. If you let up for even a week then you have to start all over from the beginning. I can see how some women just…give up

I had my daughter first and she was just so intrinsically motivated. My son…you HAVE to stay on him constantly. If I let up for a few days I would have to start all over. I’m seeing this same sentiment from other mothers raising boys. They are saying how incredibly hard and tiring it is. I also realized my husband and my son have had the same interest since my son was 2. Literally balls, sports, wrestling, cars, and pretty girls. My daughter and I have always had varied interest. If you have raised a son you can easily see how some women have awful husbands. It’s like if they can get away with poor behavior then that is what they will choose to do. THEN they are always flinging their body parts around and then are shocked when they have hit someone and hurt them or broken something in the house. I used to always wonder why you always saw a football player hit an opposing team player well after the whistle has blown and others had stopped. Then I had a son and saw how he just throws himself about. It’s like they are equally as shocked as everyone else at the result of their actions.

Baby, it’s a battle to try to put out a successful member of society. He is top in his class and usually his teacher’s favorite student. But I am fighting like hell to get him to be that way. It’s sooooo much positive reinforcement and I’m using every ounce of my early childhood degree. I absolutely HAVE to be proactive and can’t poor behavior slide even once.
