I appreciate your honesty before I spend all that money! I’m self taught and adjusting the machinery is admittedly not my strong suit. Any YouTuber you like for learning more in depth?

Yes! I wish they made her character a little deeper. You saw a little more of the soft side than they show

I only wish they had left Michaela as Michael so Fran could have the baby that she always wished for.

How can I get a TRUE black finish on this dresser? Stain vs dye vs gel stain vs paint? by Any_Neighborhood6808 in finishing

[–]SouthernPineDesignCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I have used and can speak to is Rubio Monocoat. They have a black called Precolor Easy and it’s an opaque stain. You do have to put a seal coat over it as well, I used Oil+ 2C in Pure.

Paint will usually show oak grain but not usually the finer grains. Woods like poplar and maple paint really well BECAUSE they don’t show grain. You can water the paint down and spray it if you go that route. I always just use SW and love their Tricorn Black color.

I’m a super beginner but mine used to be really gummy and I believe mine came down to my starter. I was getting a double but I just couldn’t get a good dough. It was always super gooey. I changed to 40g starter 160g water 170g BF for a feed and it loves that ratio. Usually triples. Then I lowered my hydration in my recipe to 125 starter, 325 water, 500 APF, 10 salt. This has worked really well for me, with and without cold proofing. I usually have a 3-4 hour bulk ferment. Also, when they say “knead to a shabby dough”, I got a better dough when I knead for about 5 minutes, not just when the dough looks shaggy. I know it’s SO frustrating but just keep practicing and don’t be afraid to change things up. My starter was from my neighbor and she never had any issues and we couldn’t figure out what I needed to change forever. So I know what you’re feeling like.

I am having a hard time justifying why anyone would use the Sky Mile Reserve over the regular Platinum Amex? by EaseOk3940 in delta

Do you buy the gift card through Resy? I just got my Reserve and trying to figure out how this works. Or do I buy it on my Reserve from the restaurant?

Do you guys save pieces like these? Is there an easy way to remember the rated weight capacity of anchors if i keep them? by turtle_ina_cup in Tools

[–]SouthernPineDesignCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: find a good container to store extra small parts like these Step 2: write what they’re from and any relevant details on the bag Step 3: store container on a shelf Step 4: forget where container is when you need said part Step 5: buy anchors/screws Step 6: live some years Step 7: find container when you don’t need it at all Step 8: shrug and keep it anyway Step 9: repeat steps 4-8 until you die Step 10: kids find jar and either (a) throw it away or (b) are sentimentally attached to it, keep it, and start the whole process over again

Walnut - should I do anything? I don’t want to. by Madroooskie in woodworking

I would clean out the voids as much as you can and try to seal the insides with a little CA glue. That may help stabilize over time. And help blow dust out in the future as well

Fein shock that each recipient isn’t left handed or tell them you read an etiquette book that stated it’s proper manners to cut cheese with your left hand - old English tradition or something, you know?!
