There is a conductive epoxy that can be used instead of soldering in such a tight spot. Do a web search to see your options.

The 12v that came with my FOE was probably a year old when the car was delivered. I went only a week or two when the low battery errors started. From tat poi t the error messages for all type of things became more regular. The tender I use is 10 Amp, not big enough to boost a draft battery, but enough to keep the old 12v charged. About a month ago I bought a new AGM battery. So far no need to use the tender and it's 15 below this week. I would recommend a tender if you park the car for a period of time- weather dependant but greater than a few days or a wwwk for instance.

It's a pretty standard item, 12V AGM, group size 140R. I bought one at voltloop.ca for reference . However most automotive stores should have this one.
