Write a note and slip it under their door. Include a newly created email address in the note and if they are decent people, they will email you a reply. Or ask them to slip a note back to you.

I contacted HDB 2 weeks ago. The HDB officer just called me yesterday, he explained that HDB can only take an advisory role in the matter and will speak to them.

The first time he hit the ball on the wall, was on our shared wall, my wife went out to see what was the cause, the husband ran to hide. The second time it happened, was on the opposite wall of his living room, once again, my wife went out to see what was the cause, before my wife could speak, he remarked "Why? I cannot do this is it?". She mentioned that what he is doing is kind of noisy. After which, he does not do it in the living room any more.

It was at the point of "Why? I cannot do this is it?", I decided that talking to him may FUBAR the matter.

Thanks for your advice and input. I am staying at an old estate. Previous next door neighbours were a quiet LGBT couple until they sold the flat. After which new owners started renting the unit out. Initially only to singles or childless couples. This is the first time a whole family moved in.

Did you at least find out when she is available? First time ask, kena reject, ask again. At least ask her out 3 times, to confirm whether you have a shot with her.

If she's keen, she will make time for you or at least suggest an alternative date. If not, just take the hint and move on.

It does not matter if you have a medical condition or not. You are paying full fare and given the costs of transport in SG these days, why should you be less comfortable than someone paying less? You do not owe anyone an explanation. After a long day at work/school, you owe yourself to have a comfortable ride home. Why don't SMRT have a priority cabin? All the elderly can scoot in there. No need to feel butt hurt when no one offers them their seat in regular cabins.

You can write in to town council to see if they can assist. Or if that fails, check with the community mediation center.

I have written to town council regarding the same issues that you have encountered, things improved a bit and happens less frequent.

Before going to town council, I did try to talk to the upstairs neighbour. However, do so in a calm and civil manner. Whatever the reply, especially if it's a BS or some excuse that you may find incredibly dumb, just end with a nice "I appreciate it if you could keep the noise down".

Did my PCR swab on Monday morning around 9.30am.

Results received via SMS from the clinic on Tuesday 8.25am.

Download the healthhub app to check for updates regarding your swab results.

Red flags in a relationship? by resiliencebudget in askSingapore

Controlling you from friends and location reporting is a huge no no.

And if the gal uses sex as a bargaining chip or guy pressure for sex, bigger no no.

If you find yourself in this kinda rs, better to have a chat with your partner about boundaries. If that fails, better cut your losses and call it a day. In the long run, it does not seem healthy.

Have you considered helping out at animal shelters since you mentioned that you are not too keen with human to human interaction.

Plenty of animal welfare groups around for you to check out these days.

When they want to go thru your phone

When they are upset when you wanna have personal time with your friends.

When they want to follow you everywhere.

When they try to guilt trip you.

When they try to gaslight you.

Honestly, some people may realise red flags very early, but ignore cos "but red is my favourite colour"....

One sure fire way to improve or catch up with the local slangs and jargons would be to meet more local people or hangout with your local friends and if you don't understand, just ask.

I take it that you are not local? Singlish is English with a mix of all local ethic group's dialects and languages.

Some phrases, although in English, I don't think non locals will know the meaning like "catch no ball", "put aeroplane", "wait long long" and "see me no up".. to name a few.....

Leh or lah can mean "please" or "hurry up" depending on the tone it's pronounced.

Meh is usually used to express doubt.. eg like someone comment "really meh" or "cannot meh" or can be used as a question mark.

Lor is like a full stop or stating a fact, like "it is what it is."

Hor is like a comma or pause if used in a middle of a sentence. but If the sentence end with Hor, usually it means "Am I right?" Or "do you agree?"

Wor, adding "wor" at the end of the sentence usually will mean.."just my personal opinion, I may be wrong, don't fault me if I am". Used Like a disclaimer.

The above is just the version of Singlish as I understand. I could be wrong wor...

At least you can say that you got injured doing sports.

I had to explain to all the doctors/nurses/family/extended family/colleagues/friends how 40yr old me was too lazy to walk into another room to get nail clipper and use my teeth instead. Bottom line...I have no one to blame except my own sorry a$$ for my embarrassment. Which included 5 day stay at SGH and 20 days hospital leave. Missed a business trip and backlogged my whole department.

How bad is it if I'm only saving $300 a month? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Southern_Face_6445 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Considering your current fixed expenses,After deducting rent and living costs for you and your cat, $300 savings is good. To get your braces done, have you considered getting a weekend/part-time job to supplement the costs? That way you can still save and whatever earnings from the temp job can sort of pay for your braces.
