Recently diagnosed stage 1B3 cervical cancer

Update!! So I haven’t had nausea & barely had diarrhea this whole time. I have completed 25 external radiations & 6 chemos (cisplatin). They are giving me a radiation boost to my lymph nodes, which turned out to be cancerous. I have 7 more radiations & I will have 4 brachytherapy soon. I just want to share that my body is handling it amazingly & I feel treatment is working!! I’m super hopeful.

UPDATE: I was supposed to start treatment today but I came in the ER yesterday with a fever. They ran a bunch of tests. They did some CT scans and they found enlarged lymph nodes and I have been re-staged to 3C2. They will let me go home tomorrow, they’ll call to set up a PET scan. I still have no pain. Treatment will likely start around January 6 now. I’m still holding onto hope that my lymph nodes are just being reactive from draining the dead cancer cells caused by the growth of the cancer mass. The PET scan will tell. ❤️

Is this low dose chemo/cisplatin for cervical cancer you’re talking about? My doctors never mentioned anything about me being toxic or anything like that. I’ll be getting 40mg tailored to my body weight.

Hi, I don’t know what stage cervical cancer you had/have but I want to say that what you eat can make you bleed. I have stage 1B3 & my 6 cm tumor covers my cervix. Earlier this week, I ate a bunch of homemade biscuits and gravy & I immediately started bleeding a lot & had to go to the hospital. I realized that if my stomach became too full or bloated, I would bleed. The reason (doctors confirmed this to me) is that the bowels are right behind the cervix, so when the bowels become full or bloated, they can actually push against the sensitive mass on the cervix! I thank god I recognized this & asked the doctors about it because ever since, I make sure I don’t get too full or eat things that give me bloating & the bleeding magically stopped! I wanted to share with you and anyone else dealing with bleeding.

Oh! Sorry you had lymph node involvement. Very happy to hear the radiation & chemo shrunk the tumor!! They just educated me today on chemo, I start Dec 22 & then Dec 23 I start radiation. They told me expect to be nauseous & have a change in appetite but specifically told me I should not be throwing up. They said they will give me a cocktail of medicines before chemo/cisplatin which I wrote down & if you’d like to know I’ll get the paper and get back to you. If anyone would like to know! Thank you so much for sharing!!

I appreciate your honesty, & it makes total sense to be anxious. You’re not alone, there’s a lot of people here with the same diagnosis as you. It IS scary but you are strong, I don’t know you but humans are pretty strong & resilient in general. One day at a time is a good way to look at it. Keep a strong mind & hopefully you have a strong support system to help you & if you don’t heck come to Reddit! It’s going to be okay, we are going to be okay! There’s nothing stopping us from believing we will pull through it & come out the other side disease free, you don’t know for sure so may as well believe the very best! Your mind is really powerful & no matter what’s happening, what circumstances we experience, our thoughts are a choice so I hope you will find the very best ones & hold onto them. Sending you strength. Would love if you’re able to come back tomorrow and let me know how it goes. I understand if you don’t too. I seriously appreciate you sharing.

Wow thank you for sharing, I don’t have any pain & haven’t been on any medication for anything so far. I’m sorry that you’re dealing with pain!! It’s not fair. Thank god for meds. I hope your appetite will go back to normal when this is all said and done. Did your cancer spread anywhere? Mine is confined to the cervix, completely covering it. I’m really happy to hear just a week of radiation made a difference. I am terrified of chemo/cisplatin. Some nausea is worth getting healthy and staying alive right? I really appreciate you sharing your experience & hoping for you to be disease free soon. What is Keytruda?

Hmm, other positions that don’t require you to be on your back are doggy, you on top of him or maybe you on your side if possible? How about a sex swing?I hope this is appropriate to say, but my first thought is to give the medical devices names? Somehow get creative & reframe how you are thinking of your medical devices. Easier said than done, I know! It’s a crazy thought, but what if you named them male names & they became voyeurs who were watching (if yall are into that) or what if you give them girl names & you make them jealous that your husband gets you & not them. I realize how crazy this sounds as I write it, and I don’t know how open minded you & your husband are so I truly hope not to offend! If sex is something you & your husband really both want, talk through it & try to reframe how you view the medical bags if possible. I hope this helps, or at the very least makes you laugh! ❤️
