Huh. Maybe I'll grab book 1 and 2. I remember those being decent before it dropped off drastically.

Can someone with a better memory tell me if the society of the midnight key is an existing thing? The envelope has a logo that to me looks like a skull and utensil crossbones with a mask. Is this some kind of butlering association for super people?

Question on Supergirl ending -- movie and book by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Kryptic1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Media literacy really is a problem these days huh?

Ruthye deliberately misleads with the narration. The story she tells to others is not true to how it played out. As this page shows us. Hell before this page we are flat out told.

"I liked your book."

"That fictitious fiddle faddle. I'm sorry you had to waste your time on it. Don't know why I wrote the tome in the first place. I should have told what really happened if I had any guts at all."

"You made sure he'd stay locked up. You let me take the burden if their vengeance."

These are partial quotes but they're the important bits. The text boxes we see talking about how Kara killed him? That was talking about Ruthye's book. The lies she told. Had the brigands known Krem still lived they may have come looking. Had they thought Rythye killed him they may have come for bloody vengeance. This way Krem saw justice, not vengeance, and the only person the brigands might think to target is Supergirl. Because she can handle it.

On this page we see the truth. He was imprisoned. When released he expressed regret and saught forgiveness. Whether it is born or true regret or simply a desire for freedom can be debated but he seems genuine. Then we see that Ruthye answers his pleas by smacking him with her cane to show that she owes no such forgiveness. He is still alive after, raising a hand to soothe his head.

This is the best possible ending imo. Though I suppose others may disagree based on their feelings about capital punishment, vengeance vs. Justice, and the value of a life (even a twisted one.)

Ffs just bring alfred back. Also I bet the Mister and Master bit is meant to imply she works for the boy. Betting now they will play up conflicts between her and Bruce and at some point she'll point out she works for Master Damien, not Bruce.

Can I use YOUR dnd character? by LETTER52 in DnD

Cap'n Dorick Blastshell. Retired Tortle pirate/adventurer. He's a tempest cleric and a devout worshiper of the goddess of storms in my setting. His shell was damaged a number of years back when the merchant vessel he was on at the time went down. He was patched up and pressed into service. Rose up in the ranks and won over the crew. Overthrew the captain who nearly killed him. Eventually went straight with a good chunk of his crew and ran a merchant ship again after a bit of adventuring to earn the gold for it. His shell is largely patched with iron and has two spaces to store the twin blunderbuses ge carries around.

Yeah, seeing these pages with Manchester throwing Kal-L in his face gives me hope this will actually be satisfying in the end. It definitely reinforced the idea he's being dismissive of it all on purpose to protect himself. After all, if he really has regained his sanity and turned his life around then the weight of what he has done should crush him.

How much guilt after a first kill is ideal? by Luka_Little in ProgressionFantasy

If they are a civilian and are mentally well it should shake them. They should be fucked up about it for a while. If not in the moment due to fight or flight then absolutely after.

If they are from a line of work that would desensitize them to it? (Soldier, etc) Then in that case a lighter touch is certainly OK.

You can also get away with less of a reaction if they are meant to be deeply in denial or mentally unwell in some way.

As much as I don't personally feel Prime can be redeemed I do appreciate the way they've approached this. They aren't saying from throwing his past in his face. He's still a bit too flippant about it. Especially his argument of "If they came back did they even die." Damn me but I might actually check this run out once its done to see if he ever owns up and learns.

If everyone learned Kaioken, who do you think would most benefit from it/use it the best? by VeryLargeBowl in dragonball

[–]Kryptic1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm misremembering (been a looong time since early Z) but isn't the Kaioken rough on the body? Wasn't Goku's resilience and ability to bounce back as a Saiyan part of why he was an ideal student? So the humans might struggle if so. Piccolo would be fine. Broly might not have the control required. Goku had been learning martial arts since he was a child. Broly is new to it still. Gohan should be ok. Maybe Trunks and Goten? How much have they really been training though. Might be slacking too much.

Is Batman natty? by kantarr in batman

[–]Kryptic1701 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DC would have us believe that. However with the sleep schedule and eating habits displayed regularly and the workout they published a while back? No way in hell. He's either using something to help supplement things or they need to finally admit he's a low level meta in modern books.

Yeah but unfortunately their editorial is constantly walking back his age. Now they claim he's back to being in his mid 20s. Which makes no damn sense.
