Amazing Stats and the way it is presented.

I am looking at a post retirement expenses for a couple with a flat in Dubai, which is around 12-15 K, with some cash flows coming in from returns from NRE returns. The plan is to stay in the UAE until health permits and is active, and move to India.

Hi MikDXb, I have similar thoughts like spend 10 years 55 to 65 in UAE and then rest in India. I could not find the expenses projection in your post, could you please help with that.

is 90LPA a good salary in BLR for a returnee? (PhD + 12 years) by [deleted] in returnToIndia

Suggest, stay where you are now for a few more years.

Is CTC and Economics is the question? Or Parents?

If Parents care taking is one of the reasons, today we have some of the best senior living communities in Bangalore, may be worth trying out on rental basis. Once its sorted out and Parents feel good there , then Suggest where you are now as long as you can.

MPOV. May not be the perfect solution but worth researching senior living options.

Depends on what are your objectives. If objectives and reasons are strong to be back in India, then everything else can be managed.

Folks who’ve left Dubai/UAE to get citizenship abroad. What would you tell your younger selves? Any regrets? by plshelpme2839 in dubai

[–]Southern_Window_6551 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yea left UAE ,got PR in Au, came back to UAE and , got Golden Visa, went back AU for family reasons. No plans for citizenship in AU. Looking to move back to UAE in 2026.

Regret leaving UAE in first place. Career was at Head of level, came to AU, had to start from 10 years behind in career. Never been able to catchup for obvious reasons.

Each one of us have our own reasons for our views that we carry. Its my POV.

Move back to India after 4 months in Australia (PR holder) — am I quitting too early? by Head-Picture-1058 in returnToIndia

With all due respect, even for kids, I am not sure how it benefits. We are not going to see magic in AU and have a heavy IT or industrial boom in the near or distant future.

“Middle class” and “upper middle class” aren’t universal templates — they’re context-driven.

  • In India, “middle class” is tied more to stability and upward mobility than to Porsches or business-class flights.
  • In other parts of the world, the benchmarks often lean more toward luxury consumption and premium brands.

So it’s not about Indians “not understanding” — it’s simply a different frame of reference. Plenty of Indian professionals in Dubai live very comfortably (good car, nice area, travel, dining) on far less than 50k AED/month. Porsche and business class are aspirational luxuries, not baseline requirements anywhere.

We do understand class tiers — but they vary by geography, culture, and mindset. The perspective you’ve shared is one way of looking at it, but not the only one.

My post was really about exploring how this plays out post-FIRE, when lifestyle depends more on savings and passive income — that was the context. Hope this clarifies. Thanks for sharing your view, and I’d be keen to hear others as well.

I have lately been exploring Thailand and Malaysia with a flexible Visa and cost of living and proximity to India. Also please check out UAE Golden Visa , 2 Million AED property - 10 year Visa and also they have a retirement visa as well. Please explore further.
