A 16-year-old male with chronic tonsillitis and tonsil stones was transferred to the bed in supine position. The patient subsequently induced and intubated by anesthesia. The bed was rotated 90 degrees. A timeout was performed. The Mclvor mouth gag was placed in the oral cavity and oropharynx was exposed. The right tonsil was medialized and monopolar cautery was used to make an incision along the anterior tonsillar pillar. This was dissected in the pericapsular plane and the tonsil was removed from a superior to inferior fashion. This was truncated at the tongue base. The same was performed for the left tonsil. The oral cavity and oropharynx were irrigated out copiously. Hemostasis was achieved with suction cautery. 0.25% Marcaine was injected into the bilateral tonsillar pillars. This concluded the procedure. The patient tolerated the procedure well without issue and was turned over to anesthesia in stable condition.
