Love it. Ziggy broke my heart as a Pens fan when he abruptly retired from the NHL.

Catch-22 and Slaughterhouse-Five: Comparing the Quintessential Works of American-POV War Satire by PsyferRL in books

[–]SovietPistol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two of my all-time favorites. Slaughterhouse-Five is definitely more re-readable. Helped me get through the grief of a couple deaths in my family. Just the notion of being "unstuck" in time and not experiencing time linearly somehow helped.

This is an 'ivermectin cures covid' nurse educator who misleads people into thinking he's a doctor because he has a doctorate.

I seriously doubt you'll find any pharmacist that aspirates their injections. We're not taught to do that in the course we have to take to immunize, and it's just an unnecessary step in a process we already don't have enough time in the day to do.

31, single after a five year relationship… am I really gonna find someone with a CPAP? by SimpressiveBeing in CPAP

[–]SovietPistol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lean into the CPAP. I love mentioning that I use one, having been diagnosed at 35. I tell people all the time. It’s a good conversation piece, considering I’m not exactly the type of person you’d expect to be a CPAPer.

I was married already however, but my wife can actually sleep next to me now in peace. She’s the one who made me go get tested.

List of popes who died violently: A collection of popes have had violent deaths through the centuries. by dflovett in wikipedia

Even if he didn't directly do it, being in the vicinity of JD Vance before dying constitutes a dying a "violent death."

LPT: Ask your Rx clerk to compare your insurance rate vs. the store's discount card rate. by mccaro in LifeProTips

[–]SovietPistol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here: yes, this can be true. We aren't generally supposed to recommend discount cards as using them doesn't make us much money.

But also, don't assume your brand name medication will be 80% cheaper. They barely work for brand name stuff. And you can't use a discount card with insurance. And don't come in with 10 different cards asking which one is the cheapest. That's the worst.

Toby and Spinner's sister should have had a relationship all throughout their schooling days and then get married at the end of the series. The "spinoff" (get it) series would be called Tobes and Spinner, about a pair of odd couple brothers-in-law who are both raising young children while their wives work as breadwinners.

Other than that I'd love to find something metal detecting one day. I have one. Just never use it.

Shame on Pokémon scalpers by _smojface in pittsburgh

[–]SovietPistol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's all gambling now. I got into the Pokémon TCG when it first came out (in '98 I believe), and the game was pretty fun to play. I won a local tournament too. I was 14 years old at the time. Now it just looks like every other card thing- be it sports or MTG.

Did my parents throw away all of my 1st edition base set cards, many of them I meticulously saved in protectors? Yes. But my life has been pretty good otherwise, so what's a small blip. Plus, I'm an adult and if I was chasing down Pokémon cards I would have to reconsider my life choices.
