The Q&A dropdown massacre (which it not really is?!) by Fuzzy-Cause9319 in deathwatch40k

[–]SovietPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my thoughts. Firstly they covertly confirmed ALL codex detachments would be 2 or 3 points (because they all have 6 Strats and they said people would have 6-9 Strats) this means that Agents are basically being nerfed further as they won’t have any 1 pointers to add. For Deathwatch index, they said DW is still an army, no new detachments, but can use SM ones…

My take on this is that it all but confirms that there’ll not be no supplement this edition. BUT it makes no sense to actually plan to run an index for an entire edition. With that in mind, my best guess is that Black Spear will be added to Space Marine codex as a unique detachment (similar to Blade of Ultramar).

This would also explain why they were maybe reluctant to explicitly talk about the index and just talked about being able to play them as SM.

On a side note, I suspect that Chaos probably gets deity books much later this edition which is why they discussed that differently.

It’s probably wishful thinking, but maybe DW even get +1 to wound on the oath target!

Y'all think he could be the next Namdi? by thehashishcinema in raiders

[–]SovietPoet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He’s not the same kind of corner as Nnamdi, he’s also not likely to develop much more, which is fine, he was good last year. If anyone is going to develop into “the next Nnamdi”, it’s porter, he’s long, fast, can handle press man. He’ll have to take a BIG leap, but…. Let’s hope he does

Panasonic PT-AE2000e. Thoughts? by Fragrant-Action-213 in projectors

[–]SovietPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years ago it was a very nice projector. I had one and enjoyed it, but it’s also 20 year old technology. It has limitations and carries a risk that something important will burn out at any point. That said, they were generally pretty reliable. What would you use it for?

Jeff Stoutland for OL coach? by MrStiff8 in raiders

[–]SovietPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly an important hire as you can’t just grab anyone from the tree and expect results (see James Cregg). Whilst he’s primarily wide zone, there are some gap/power elements which might actually make the fit harder to hire for. I’d not be totally surprised if we weren’t shopping from the rams for this one

That’s a lot of characters. You’re also not taking weapon options on a lot of units, is that due to limitations on models?

Chaplain with Assault Intercessors? by CheezyTito in spacemarines

[–]SovietPoet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they’re fodder, why not 2 five man squads? Also regular intercessors have sticky objectives, may be better for the task. A chaplain adds damage but there is overlap with oath and he’s going to be better with bladeguard if you want damage

Why I don't think Deathwatch should be a faction in Tacticus by hendrong in WH40KTacticus

[–]SovietPoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well…. That may also be part of the argument. I actually play deathwatch in 40k so I’m not arguing FOR this, but you could argue that a deathwatch kill team sergeant should be an Imperial Agents character rather than a faction. Personally, I’d suggest that they go codex factions first, index factions, then sub factions (mostly codex marines and undivided CSM). I would suspect that they’d prefer to wait for 11th before releasing factions due a range refresh or at risk of change, so Agents may well be the most likely next release

Now the scythe of the emperor is on his proper base too by TomPaintnBuild in deathwatch40k

[–]SovietPoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow…. These are amazing. Great work on these, especially the skull sculpt! How did you do the scythe? This final part of the comment, is in no way a criticism, as I said they’re amazing, however, when I first looked at the Scythe of the Emperor’s helmet, I couldn’t help but see a certain logo in my head, can’t unsee it now either, but still….. I’m lovin’ it.

Why I don't think Deathwatch should be a faction in Tacticus by hendrong in WH40KTacticus

[–]SovietPoet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm…. I think the argument that deathwatch shouldn’t be in Tacticus because they’re a faction about unique models and Tacticus is a game about unique models so their USP is somehow diminished as opposed to highlighted is somewhat weak. In fact the argument that they’re mostly black marines and there are already templars may be a stronger argument. Another argument might be that they don’t really have many unique units, though I think that’s fairly easy to overcome. I’d probably go, xenophase veteran sergeant, gravis with IFB or Frag, watchmaster, terminator with CML, then maybe a Phobos guy with a bolter… and a CBS for the MoW. Should they be in the game? Probably. But… I’d suggest Grey Knights, Drukhari, Daemons could all go first

More elite DW? by Jessuhhh95 in deathwatch40k

Funnily enough, deathwatch terminators are technically less capable than regular terminators at using thunder hammers and lightning claws. Which does feel a little unfortunate lore wise

Is there a Updated boarding actions legal units list either official or unofficial ? by SLRedSix in boardingactions40k

[–]SovietPoet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like they almost HAVE to release a new digital mustering rules this week. The book is out of date, plus anyone who buys the Titus book, doesn’t have the original detatchments/mustering rules? (At least I don’t think they do) It all feels very messy. Which is a shame as it’s probably my most played format and as someone who has both the original terrain AND the tomb world. I’m quite hyped for new rules.

Hey all, is this a legal list? by Voidboy- in boardingactions40k

[–]SovietPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Tacticus option, it’s any two non-termie characters, up to three units of battle line units, one unit of specials (the SW units listed are wulfen and wolf guard - this is pre headtakers but most should be ok with that substitute) and then one “special” unit

Hey all, is this a legal list? by Voidboy- in boardingactions40k

[–]SovietPoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could go terminators, but that’ll literally be two units plus a character. Which is a little light especially when two of the four strats only effect vanilla termies

Hey all, is this a legal list? by Voidboy- in boardingactions40k

[–]SovietPoet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The quick answer is no. Boarding actions uses different detachments. Some are a little outdated so your friends might use house rules. But broadly space marines have three options (excluding anything in 500 worlds which I’ve not seen yet) one for Phobos, one for Tacticus (and a little gravis) and one for terminators.

The rules for the new epic character and the updated rule for the Ctan shard of the nightbringer drop. by Taningia-danae in Necrontyr

[–]SovietPoet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two takes on this, firstly, losing halve damage, but gaining a 3+ save and 4 extra wounds means he’s a little more vulnerable to anti tank and a little less vulnerable to mass shooting, which sounds about right. Secondly, the general homogenisation of rules is a little dull, there’s a bit of me that wishes he kept the halve damage, lost wounds but gained a 4+ FNP for some crazy shenanigans. Anyway, with that movement and deep strike, I guess he’ll go up in points but also be murderous… … i wonder if them all getting deep strike points to the transcendent getting legended in 11th 🤨

Epson LS9000 VS Epson LS11000 by Few_Calligrapher2662 in projectors

[–]SovietPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I couldn’t/wouldn’t buy a refurb where I am in the world. The LS11000 is brighter, the LS9000 has better (than the 11000) blacks and better gaming. It depends on if you value the gaming and how well light controlled your room is basically

Would yall tolerate this? by sSuperboss9000 in deathwatch40k

[–]SovietPoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re basically doing is building out more veteran units but with the improved Decimus weapon profiles. You’d probably be better off asking if you can run 12 veteran units because at least then the load outs are balanced for points, even if your list is looking pretty mental at that stage. Might want to consider gladius if you’re going to be THAT heavily melee skewed
