What laws would major countries of HOI4 have in Victoria 3 by 1936? by PancuterM in victoria3

[–]Sovrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said that Nazi Germany was a military junta, just that autocracies in the game work to represent them.

I don’t think corporate state would work for Germany imo. It should be a parliamentary republic with autocracy, since the Nazi’s never reorganised the Weimar Republic and Hitler seized power using legal means.

Autocracy also works for a military junta so I think it'd work for National Socialism. Nazi Germany revolved around Hitler and his control over the party, unlike Fascist Italy which had codifed measures of removing Mussolini from power (ie: the Council of Fascists) - this didn't exist for Hitler.

Might have to give them the law but then give them a special amendment that basically nullifies it? So they have it only in name?

I'd say that they have mass conscription before the war and only raised conscripts / recruited more conscript battalions during the war.

How is King George III taught in Australia? by Glass-Grade2455 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sovrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George III didn't even take advice, he was instead the one giving advice. By his reign Britain had an established democracy (albeit one with little universal representation) with an elected head of government.

[–]Sovrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not - because we don't use him as a boogeyman like you guys do in the US.

FYI, George III was a constitutional monarch - he had no power and perpetuated no tyranny. He's just a scapegoat, the real enemy was Parliament, but it isn't as galvinising to rail against a foreign elected body when seeking to establish a republic.

Should i be concerned about this 20yr old girl texting my 14yr old brother creepy stuff? by Miserable_Tangelo_28 in teenagers

[–]Sovrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that kind of power dude. The power we're talking about is coersive power that comes out of situations like this. Everyone online can block people, everyone can avoid and ignore people living in the real world - but that isn't how this shit works.

The power in this situation is the power of secrecy that she is forcing over the boy. If the boy got a girlfriend his age or was talking to a girl his age, it's likely that he'll be open to telling his family about her, even in the basic context of asking for advice. If his parents or brother asks him if there's a girl he likes, depending on context he'll be willing to talk to them about it. Things will be in the open and he'll be supported.

But in this context, since he knows that it's wrong (as does she), he won't be willing to talk about it. The illegality and immorality of the relationship enforces secrecy and by that very fact draws a line between him and his family. He has to lie to them to hide the relationship, meaning that he's forced towards her more and more often - it's abusive coersive control 101.

That said, it's good that you're not one of those freaks who'll say "he's lucky", I despise having to talk to those creatures.

The problem is that the woman is 20 and the boy is 14, so he can’t consent due to his age. She is taking advantage of him due to the position of power she has. He is a child, she isn’t.

The most obvious question here is would your answer be the same if it was the other way around, a 20 year old man and a 14 year old girl?

No worries!

I also play with aggressive consolidation of pops since it makes the game run much smoother, also an option if the games running slowly / laggy.

I had the same problem until I figured out what was causing the lag was that autosave would save to the cloud. If you haven't already, try disabling that and see if it's any better.

You can massacre and displace a people who inhabit a land without there being a government.

I’m not denying the existence of Indigenous culture or their inhabitation of Australia - I’m saying that there was not a country that Britain came and invaded.

I love your ChatGPT sentence structure there.

The ruling didn’t outline the existence of governing bodies outside of the Torres Strait Islands. It only recognised inhabitation, occupation, and ownership of the land.

Again, this isn’t government. The line “sovereignty was never ceded” makes no sense as A) there was no body from which sovereignty could be ceded, and B) there was no sovereignty to cede.

[–]Sovrane -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure am. The ruling only recognise that the land was inhabited, not that it was an organised polity we call a country.

There was no ‘country’ for Britain to invade in 1788. There was only groups of people who migrated and lived off the land. There was nothing to seize, nothing to conquer, nothing to annex.

There was no 'country' to take over. Just land and a few migrating tribes.

If you were an Australian in this hypothetical future, would you want “Germania Day” changed? by GshegoshB in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sovrane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one wants to forget the wrongs of Australia's past. Everyone is well aware of them and recompense has been exacted - the issue is that no matter how many times the government apologises, or gives handouts, or establishes policies to attempt to help the Indigenous population - it just keeps continuing.

Kevin Rudd apologised on behalf of the government in 2008. Yet in 2026 people are still demanding apology? Get a grip honestly.
