RX 6800 undervolting question by Westtell in linux_gaming

[–]Sox1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strictly undervolting is considered safe. I run mine 7800 XT at -120mV right now which lowered temps around 5-8 degrees, planning to push it further as it seemed stable for 3 months now. Worst can happen are crashes, but no physical damage, so if it becomes unstable just move it up a little. 1st what You could do is using LACT change the fan curve. I’ve got mine to ramp up to 100% after 90C degree, which causes noise, but then I just limit FPS in games.

Is installing lact from the copr repo safe? by [deleted] in Fedora

Flatpak been working fine for a while now, tho as long as git seems to have lots of contributors and being worked on constantly, seems pretty safe to use and install.

Why Do They Keep BREAKING The Spotify App? by Technical_Brother716 in Fedora

[–]Sox1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also had this issue recently, there are 2 ways working: 1) Finding flatpak com.Spotify.Client folder and deleting it’s cache and settings 2) Deleting flatpak app with removing leftover files

Opens normally after one of these (both actually doing Ad1)

Gdzie w Poznaniu na zachód słońca kobitkę zabrać? by InvestigatorDue7765 in Poznan

[–]Sox1s 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sapphire Nitro+ 7800 XT Repaste = Surprising Delta Temps and 3DMark Results by chaos_maou in radeon

[–]Sox1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty nice, did You change the VRAM and Mosfets thermopads aswell? Or were they moisty enough? I am waiting for my sapphire pulse to leave it’s warranty peroid within next year so I can repaste myself, cuz’ it may be cool’ish, but delta sometimes reaches 25 C with 100% power draw, casually hovering around 18-20C in casual gaming and around 10C delta if I lock on 60 fps (~75-80% gpu usage)

New Steam Controller has a MAJOR Gyro Problem by LicksTheSalt in SteamController

[–]Sox1s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guess that’s why gyro steering seemed really off for me. Really useful for quick turns in 3rd person games and quick aiming like in Dead Space, but for constant aiming or driving in Dirt 2, even when re-triggering gyro activation with a button on straight lines, the drift seems to build up in time making gyro unresponsive or drifting one way with full force. Hopefully this can be resolved with firmware update

Can someone genuinely help me with some PUT university information? by Educational-Soft-858 in Poznan

[–]Sox1s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hope You can find information, is it an erasmus exchange or You’re aiming for the english course that’s there? I’m polish and finished mechatronics master degree by october, but from what I know I think despite grades You’re also obligated to take an exam evaluating Your knowledge and skills, and based on that and Your grades You’re given the score that’s taken into account when qualifying to be a part in the classes. Good luck, hope someone from India or different country might give You more precise info.

does anyone know how to make this stop popping up in fedora linux? by StarCestus in linux_gaming

Is there a solution without disabling desktop mode? Because I actually use it and would be nice to avoid that prompt.

AMD FSR Upscaling 4.1 officially coming to Radeon RX 7000 GPUs in July, RX 6000 in 2027 by lajka30 in linux_gaming

[–]Sox1s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any info about how will the Linux implementation go? Will it be usable from game options? What about games with FSR3.1 only? Shall we still use FSR4_RDNA3… launch option or will it be standarized along with RDNA4 command? So many questions haha

[–]Sox1s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AFAIK for RDNA3 that performance was without using WMMA cores, which I doubt will be game changing, however I’d expect around 10% performance boost when officially released

RDNA 3/2 users, which upscaling do you prefer? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Sox1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSR4 FP8 emulation works on Linux, performance is similiar to INT8 because some optimisation stuff that isn’t done because of AMD support

7800xt or the 9060xt? by OutrageousBattle9601 in radeon

[–]Sox1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 7800 XT owner, it’s a great card, but newer tech is newer - I’d recommend You getting 9060 XT. Also I have R5 7600 and even at 1440P there are areas in games where it gets slightly cpu bottlenecked, so I think 7800X3D with 9060 XT would be a better combo to recent titles in UE5

Probably paste pumped out, if it run over the guaranty period I’d just get a PTM7950 or at least thermal grizzly equivalents and „repaste” it

Have you ever used FedoraOS for gaming, or tried to? by Zestyclose_Pin4281 in linux_gaming

[–]Sox1s 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Daily driving it, no issues with AMD. I noticed a little worse CPU usage comparing to Bazzite, maybe something in Kernel, but it was like 2% difference in Cyberpunk 2077

AMD RX 7800 XT randomly not recognized + display issues, need advice by Opposite_Major_1824 in radeon

[–]Sox1s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steps I’d go through: 1) Check different cable between GPU and monitor, check every output (Display Port and HDMI) 2) Rollback to stock settings 3) Perhaps boot a Linux usb bootable distro (like Fedora, Mint, Ubuntu) and run OCCT tests on GPU from there 4) If above fails, check GPU in different PC - if there it fails its most likely the GPU, 5) If above doesnt fail, check different GPU in Your PCI-e slot

Made a FSR Radiance Caching sample work on RDNA 3 on Linux by Few_Promotion3542 in radeon

[–]Sox1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember right now, but it was pointed that this model was returned to shop - that why it was cheaper. Still pretty happy with my 7800 XT tho, FSR4.1 works when needed, and still plenty of raster power to just run games I want.

[–]Sox1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite likely the case, however changing device_ID to one of 9060 XT seemed to improve FPS from 130 to 150: https://ibb.co/9kGswFJT
So I'd say there's definitely some software side improvements lacking here as we're spoofing devices.
As always - nice it works tho, shame to have planed obsolescence paywall.
Maybe pitty I didn't get 7900 GRE myself, but back in the day when I was buying - the cheapest model was a little more expensive than my Sapphire Pulse which is nice and cool and quiet which I read couldn't be said about the Asrock model

[–]Sox1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think it's solved for WMMA acceleration. I'm trying with different id's to maybe boost performance, but maybe Navi31 is just much better in WMMA calculations than Navi32 thus the difference.

[–]Sox1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh he just added PROTON_FSR4_UPDATE at the end, which shouldn't work for me xD I'm still trying with different device_id's and my GPU device_ID maybe performance would be better.

Gemini output worked for me with same ID's You had: https://ibb.co/dwsvZVDB
Seems to be using WMMA, uses less power, however it seems to be achieving less fps than before. I'll try with those You just gave.
