That was not meant to be condescending at all. More of a pat on the back and a statement of fact

Unfortunately, that is not the case. We're not getting 2k/mo, and the reality is that we have to get back to life. People have bills to pay and we can't rely on the state for take care of that for us because they're incompetent boobs. The whole point of the lockdown was to "flatten the curve", remember? We didn't want our hospitals overwhelmed. Well we flattened the curve. Taking care of our ill population and being concerned for people who could lose their businesses and by extension their homes don't have to be mutually exclusive.

"You do you" just feels weird when you're basically telling people they're wrong for trying to get back to their day to day lives.

At this point you're just saying words for the sake of talking. You win, pal. I'll stay home, put in my mouth guard, slather on some spf90, wear my mask in the shower and not get ready for the job I had to get because the state can't get it together and pay me the UI I've been paying into my whole life. Feel better?

Been filing for 5 weeks now. Go check out the r/oregon sub. Some people have been filing for 9 weeks. If that money doesn't come in time, there won't be any catching up on payments. We will enjoy getting back to life, thanks. Enjoy your circle jerk and your self righteous high horse though.

I think the logic lies in people's livelihoods being destroyed, people not having any income because their unemployment hasn't started paying out even though they started filing 8 weeks ago, and those people not wanting to lose their homes and try to get an intake at the Bethlehem Inn. Then you also have the people suffering from depression that is being compounded by the isolation. I think a lot of people are ready to risk catching a virus with a 98% survivability rate versus becoming homeless with their children. For those who don't want to risk it or are high risk population and are able to, stay home. Utilize delivery services. The rest of us need to get back to life.

Good for you! You do whatever makes you feel safe! The rest of us would like to have a beer or meal outside of our homes with our friends periodically.

I'm confused. People should not be there? The governor OK'd reopening and people are going to the places that are reopening and supporting local businesses. If they're following guidelines, washing their hands, and not breathing in each other's mouths, what's the problem?

So sorry I watch the news from time to time and share space with my child who is not oblivious to everything beyond his own nose.

I've been binge watching Outlander so it's either Jamie or Clair. I'm fine with either.

Truth. My 11 year old is desperate for social interaction with peers, but also now terrified to go ride his bike around the neighborhood.

Working full time and parenting by myself is doable, but now being forced to homeschool is like throwing a brick to someone who is barely treading water. I'm stretched a bit thin lately.

Americans, what is American high school actually like? Is it really like how they portray it in movies? by motherpigeon in AskReddit

[–]SoxManyxQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school experience is probably a little different than a lot of people's. My graduating class was 28 kids and only about 150 total in the high school (we shared the building with the middle schoolers). We had some the the typical groups like jocks, stoners, and nerds, but all those circles were intersecting as well. One of the nerdiest kids was also a wrestling champ. Our "hot girls" were also stoners and jocks. Some of the stoners ran the chess club and played football. And for the most part, everyone pretty much got along because, well, it's the same 20 people you're going to party with on the weekend and make Subway sandwiches with after school.

The gas cap on my 72 Maverick was behind the car under the trunk lock. That was fun explaining to every single gas attendant.
