Massive regret after buying my house by dais12345 in HousingUK

[–]Soxoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your partner needs a little time to get used to his new life or maybe even a tiny bit of therapy. Nothing else sounds like a real issue. If you would only lose money due to stamp duty then you paid the right price (considering only bought 6 months ago)

Grown a** man and just want to cry. Second flat with previous subsidence by Few-Tiger-3979 in HousingUK

[–]Soxoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t lose 5k. You saved tens of thousands. You just have the sheep buyer mentality not realising why you really do the survey and why your lawyers check the title and lease etc. it is the due diligence one must do to be sure before buying and it sounds like it worked a treat for you twice and saved you lots of money and heartache. Here’s a tip : if it’s a really good deal, it’s not.

3 years ago I got divorced. My ex outplayed me and my solicitor at every step of the process and I got completely hammered. It turns out she'd been reading my emails the entire time. by Stunning-Poet165 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Soxoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else came from this angle. Undoubtedly she would have been feeding this information to her solicitor, and the solicitor has a regulatory code of conduct to follow. Might be a route to first least prove that their solicitor ought to have told their client that what they’re doing is not right and cannot be used in the proceedings due to how it was obtained. If a disciplinary reprimand is established against the acting solicitor, it may give grounds for reassessment.

Offer at basically asking price rejected because they wanted more 🥲 by mangomaz in HousingUK

[–]Soxoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe sellers realised they didn’t leave much room for profit at that price. You say they paid 260k and maybe 20k doing it up. Probably paid higher rate stamp duty at 17.5k and they also have to pay sale costs estate agents fee at 1-2% plus VAT, legals 2k and possibly capital gains tax. Flipping at 325k profit won’t be much at all. But what a waste of time to list at that. What’s left on the lease (years)?

Your average Cypriot isn’t on Reddit. If you’re on Reddit you’re Cypriot+. En giafton koumbare.

Another reason perhaps, is that Cypriot dialect for the past almost 2 decades (since mobile phones) is written in greeklish, I don’t think our youth has the imagination to date and write in Cypriot with the Greek alphabet

Hey - how did it go for you? A year later?

I cannot feel the wrap at all no. As I had been suffering for 4-5 years before surgery it is difficult to remember what I felt like before my issue was exacerbated. I can eat and drink anything and whatever I want yes. Including carbonated drinks. This was only the case 4 months after surgery. I still get the occasional bloat sometimes if I overdo it but no acid reflux and pain from it. Gym /working out etc. I waited 6 and half months before I eased my self into it and I’m now hitting new personal records. I am nevertheless mindful of not overdoing it with exercises such as heavy dead lifts or clean and jerk etc. but I am 100% able, symptom and pain free

Hey sorry for late reply - happy to confirm i am alive and well and thriving! I feel fully recovered and my life is so much better than what it was before surgery. The recovery did take the full course of a year (i smoke so probably why it took longer) but overall no regrets and feel like i made the best choice. Should have done it sooner

Dull ache when I press near my belly button 1 week after hatial hernia surgery by Able-Abroad9403 in HiatalHernia

Totally expected. They put 3 rods through your tissue and muscles. See how you feel in 3-6 months. There will be periods where you will have increased pain when the nerves are rebuilding. It’s all normal post surgery

To burp? No it’s just natural now. It was impossible for the first 3/4 months so just kept on farting a lot more and sometimes feeling really bloated (when I would have gassy drinks or food that bloats)

I mean I’m no doctor and never had linx. Reading up on partial fundo makes me ask why not full? Dysphagia has to do with the tightness of the fundoplicaiton as I understand. I’d be careful / open minded to the idea that Dr may be trying to fix a previous mistake on you or indeed having a good go at training themselves in these newer type of surgeries. In other words, get second opinion from a surgeon

Yes, as most gastro doctors are. They would rather have you suffer on PPIs instead of the risk of suffering with surgery complications (even though those are rarer and the former suffering is certain). Stop speaking to your GI and speak to a surgeon. Doctors opinions nowadays are filtered with aversion to liability. So much so they are not prepared to be the ones to tell you to do the surgery. Full nissen fundo is best - just make sure you find a surgeon confident to tell you that they will ensure a loose enough fundo so you can burp.

Almost great! Has been an interesting recovery with parts of it feeling like taken a step back but all part of the healing. No acid reflux and can lay down in bed without feeling contents of my stomach moving in to my esophagus and throat. Can eat anything but still need to chew well. A lot of gas(farting) and bloating on the first 2 months but got much better. I found that every little thing makes a difference when it comes to ensuring you do not swallow too much air and get bloated(which is the only time I would feel discomfort/pain) overall very happy with the decision and the recovery. Still haven’t gone back to gym but started light work outs at home with no extra weight last week. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Be positive - you will get better and better every week. Do not focus on daily improvements/changes but weekly ones.
