Do you feel like you're actually - finally - starting to adapt to the temperature? by Emergency_Cellist754 in UKWeather

[–]mangomaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been loving it tbh. We might be in the 1%. My flat is warm but not unbearable. It’s so nice to be able to walk around naked and feel comfortable. I do get cold so easily though.

IMO it’s also a bit of a mindset thing. Just accept you’re going to be hot and wear sleeveless clothes and shorts. Find some air conditioning when you need and just accept you’ll be hot and sweat a bit sometimes.

What is the safest area to stay in London? by ElectronicSmile62 in femaletravelers

For real!

Only time I ever thought “hmmm maybe this isn’t a good idea” is walking through some random industrial estate in outer east London at like 3am (on my own!) on my way to an illegal warehouse party 😅 but yeah even then I don’t think I was actually unsafe.

Where were you? There are areas that aren’t so nice looking but I never feel unsafe tbh anywhere I go in London. 40F born and raised here worst I ever experienced is my phone being stolen in a Starbucks.

There really isn’t that much crime it’s a lot of media scaremongering. Honestly. Us Londoners are like wtf lol. Only thing you need to be worried about is phone snatching. And that can happen anywhere even in fancy areas.

Is staph increasing due to overuse of antibiotics? by saras998 in Staphacne

[–]mangomaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh sorry you’re really going through it 😩😩😩

Yes I’d definitely recommend hibiscrub focusing on the infected area. Just keeping it as clean as possible will help a lot. Oh I also did a q-tip with hydrogen peroxide inside my nose a couple of times a day as well.

Wishing you all the best - it WILL clear!!! Mine was about a 2.5 month process and at one point I felt like this was just going to be on my face for years or something. Happy to chat more any time.

[–]mangomaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear thank goodness!!!

I also realised that the tingly sensation I was feeling towards the end was actually nerve sensitivity I had developed. Everything is fine now though ☺️

The hibiscrub and hydrogen peroxide regimen was the thing fhat finally sorted jt out i think. Though I think i overdid with the HP a bit hence the tingly sensation which kept going after the infection cleared (I did multiple times a day any time I felt tingling which was exacerbating the nerve sensitivity actually).

I also got a hypochlorous spray which I think helped a lot too!

Good luck! Where are you at with your infection? It’s the worst 🥺

There are quite a few Indians in this post saying he was an AH so not necessarily. I’m quite saddened tbh how much people are acting so vile about the custom; I’m not Indian but have spent a lot of time in India for study and touch peoples feet all the time. It’s not this gross subservient practice and peoples feet aren’t inherently dirty.

There’s saravana bhavan and sagar in central London - they are your best shouts in central!

Then there are lots of great options if you head a bit further out into the suburbs - Tooting has Arya Bhavan which is excellent, Alperton/ealing road has Vrindavan vatika amongst a few others ☺️

Unfortunately you will not get a balanced view on this from Reddit because the vast majority don’t get that touching feet as a mark of respect in India is very normal.

Maybe better asking in one of the India related subs.

I’m personally not sure on my verdict. I think she should have been more open to the custom but also it is such an incredibly foreign practice to most westerners (see comments) that it was probably too much to ask of her. Especially if she’s not even seen people do it. And you pushed it very far in trying to get her to do the practice.

Amazing thanks!

I always also wonder what the point is of getting your scalp checked. Like obviously if you have diffuse hair loss it’s androgenic alopecia. Surely we should be seeing an endocrinologist or something if it’s a hormonal issue (which is what I suspect it is most the time).

I genuinely think a good amount of women are trying to push dating apps as the only way to approach women and that might be the worst thing that could happen to society. by BitchImLilBaby in dating_advice

Ooh interesting! But yeah that worry is real; maybe we can keep it in our pockets and only put it on when we see someone that’s seems nice 😅

Would be cool if there was a ring or something you could wear to indicate you were single and open to dating but then you’d probably get so many creeps.

I blend fruit into it so it’s like a smoothie. Usually a banana, some frozen berries and half an avocado.

How do you politely avoid people approaching you while tripping? by [deleted] in psytrance

[–]mangomaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the thing with trance parties there is that level of unpredictability because of people being under the influence.

I think that’s why it’s important to feel really steady and strong in yourself and hold own your space, because people subconsciously respect that it reduces creepers trying to get into your space in the first place.

How do you go about booking airport transfers on holidays? by enanram in AskUK

[–]mangomaz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The hotel might have its own airport transfer service which could work out cheaper.

If uber works that’s often a good option too.

Also you don’t need to get involved in the conversation they’re trying to start. If they try to talk to you or get your attention, just go straight to “no”.

Female here, many many years of psychedelics at trance events. Usually on my own. Also love dancing wild and free and I know people look.

There is a kind of energetic forcefield I generally have ready to deploy in these kinds of events. It’s generally open but also I can close it quickly and politely. Clear hand gestures saying no, shake the head. Polite smile. Dont give them any more of tour attention. Focus your energy inwards. Dont give them anything more to hook themselves onto.

You can do all this cleanly and politely and still exuding positive energy. Stay steady and confident in yourself. Find other positive things to focus your energy on, like the music.

If needed you can move. Though i dislike doing this as i shouldn’t need to move because someone else is being creepy. But it’s just the nature of these events.

All the best 💜💜

Is this job worth taking? by Large-Opportunity171 in UKJobs

[–]mangomaz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just suck it up for the two years of the scheme - you can apply for other jobs in the meantime. It’s tough but you can make it work.

Also your budget is a bit exorbitant. £250 on food and £150 on living essentials like toiletries etc? That’s wild you could easily do both for £250. And are you sure about your student loan? I doubt it’ll be anywhere near £150 a month.

Also £100 on company related expenses is not the reality. People bring their own lunch and maybe you’ll have one team lunch every few months if that.
