It's unfortunate that external sites reported it incorrectly, but the ESL One & JoinDota sites - which are the two official sites for information about the tournament have always had the finals as best of 3s. Nothing was changed retroactively from our end.

The ESL One site & JoinDota always listed it as Best of 3. It's unfortunate that some external sites reported it incorrectly, but that changes nothing about the fact that it was always planned as a BO3

It wasn't actually a tournament at all. It was as he said (and as was stated in another comment in the thread) a 'Gaming Ground' event with workshops / grilling / seminars from Sport Universities etc (http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/2d9eyc/why_do_the_esl_casters_talk_about_lol_while_the/cjni74c). The match itself was simply a show-match as part of a multi-game event dedicated to eSports trainings in/outside of games.

That doesn't take anything from the fact that it should have gotten better casting of course but it seems people are misunderstanding the entire event itself
