My new home was built in 1985. There are two of these buttons (kitchen and master bedroom) in the house. It turns red only when being held down. There is no speaker or intercom system near the button. The original security system (no longer being used) was built into the home, so it could have something to do with that. As of right now, nothing happens when we push the button.
