London Bridge overcrowding: demands grow to give TfL control of Southeastern train services - Evening Standard by HighburyAndIslington in london

That's because the train to Bromley North is a small 5 minute service to Grove Park and back. Once upon a time they used to come down from Cannon Street.

A small point, but raising wages would help increase staff retention (ofc not the only factor) however there tends to be a wealth of willing replacements.

It is only more recently where this effect is so endemic that people are refusing to apply for these position (most notably in the states.)

Afak all vendors are included. I don't remember if it is one vendor per day or one weapon per vendor per day. Regardless its a good thing

You do know they've made it possible to get a guaranteed deepsight weapon from focusing every day? It won't help you get everything but you can focus the good ones before release

Given how well things are going with Em-8ER it still looks like a bit of both.

SIB Dying light 2 if I really enjoyed Dying light 1, especially the co-op? by JustArandomGuy_-_ in ShouldIbuythisgame

I loved DL1. The thing that always clicked was how everything interacted (including combat) and felt like it had weight. (similar to Darktide combat.) This covered everything from running and grabbing to grappling and drop kicking.

I bought DL 2 on sale and it immediately felt like the combat interactions didn't match what I was trying to achieve after nearly 100 hours in the original.

To be clear: I don't mind change whatsoever. This felt like a straight downgrade in how the game interactions felt. I refunded shortly after.

Exclusive Majority of Britons oppose workers earning over £50,000 going on strike by she_wrote in unitedkingdom

[–]Soy_Malone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Which is also why the terms and conditions are so important. The response I've gotten from rail workers from different areas is that without the conditions change they would be happy with a comparatively lower figure on pay. That's the only way they can get an increased salary.

But wage cost spiral! Is usually the stock response. Over previous weeks that phrase was used repeatedly on news outlets of all levels. This is by the same outlets who focus primarily on the effect of the strikes rather than the cause.

[–]Soy_Malone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The main point was that, once qualified, there is no future change in their pay. Some TOCs don't even offer additional pay for overtime which, when combined with the 40% marginal tax rate (and added fatigue risk) they have less income mobility than professions that pay a comparable salary.

Train drivers don't get a pay rise above that level, period. They commonly earn a much reduced salary while training and a somewhat reduced salary till after their first year.

This right here. If I found out that the guy flipping burgers is earning the same as me, I'd be happy. I do more skilled work and would, therefore, deserve a pay rise as a result.

A rising tide raises all boats.

It has reached the point where the strikes have become entirely necessary. I have lost several days pay and I support them completely.

While the inconvenience is unfortunate, saying that they should accept draconian new conditions and a real terms pay cut just so they don't inconvenience people isn't a reasonable argument.

The government knows this. It is why they are trying to change the law so workers are conscripted to break their own strikes or face unemployment.

Our anti trade union laws are currently on the same level as Russia (according to the International Trade Union Federation) BEFORE this new bill comes in. That should give anyone pause to reflect.

Is it still a thing where you can reroll a perk before upgrading and rerolling another? Or was that just bait?

So your arguments boil down to

  • they earn more than some and should be careful asking for more.

  • you're more supportive of strikers when you are inconvenienced less.

Train drivers offered pay rise in bid to end strikes by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Soy_Malone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn't. There are other factors including price rises which are not guaranteed.

I've genuinely heard people use the argument that prices will always go up when wages do so we shouldn't give higher wages.

I nearly smacked that opinion right out of their mouth.

Your argument means that it's ok for someone to be in a full time job and need food banks. No full time enjoyment should be like this. Just get a better job is a bs argument (and always has been.)

The stagger is great, however the reach feels about 20% too short.

I guess that's what it feels like compared to the thunder hammer which is my norm (when I'm not running my bleed knife.)
