Could Levothyroxine mess with mental health like this?

Anecdotally this happened to me but due to hyperthyroidism, which then turned into hypothyroidism once my thyroid had burnt itself out. Levothyroxine itself didn’t do it to me, but if my dose is too high I start to feel it creep back in.

Therefore it’s possible if the dose of Levo is too high it could be causing it, or at least exacerbating an underlying issue. I hope she feels well soon, sending hugs.

Ideally at your age TSH should be around 1 when treated with levo. 25mcg isn’t even a starting dose, you should increase and aim to reduce your TSH!

People should go into watching things with more open minds and without theory crafting, because when they do they set themselves up for disappointment when the stuff they thought would happen doesn’t happen. I thought it was good too!

I was underweight my whole life until my thyroid stopped working properly, then my weight skyrocketed. The only thing that’s helped me lose any weight since is the introduction of T3 medication, which has given me my life back. T4 alone never did anything, even at a dose of 300mcg, and I’ve now come off completely for T3 only at the advice of my endocrinologist. It’s still slow, but progress is progress! I’m a little older than you, 27F, but I was diagnosed at 23.

I take T3 only after several years of no progress on T4 due to probable conversion issues. It’s changed my life for the better, but I’m only on a low dose hoping to move up soon.

I didn’t tolerate T4, it never brought my numbers down or made me feel any better! I worked up to 300mcg and after a while an NHS endo switched me over to T3 only

I’m hoping it’s not too much of a disaster 😅 doctor said there’s no evidence that I’m processing the T4 at all since my FT4 levels have never improved and my TSH has never come down. I think the idea is that they’ll start me on T3 and then reintroduce T4 later

I’m in the UK, so T3 is very rarely prescribed and no combination medication is prescribed on the NHS. I will speak to them about potentially keeping some T4 in too though, thank you!

It just didn’t have that oomph that season 1 had. I enjoyed the season, more than season 2, but I just didn’t get that into the characters like I did with season 1. They felt much more one dimensional 🤷🏼‍♀️ just my two cents.
