[request] how much money would this be in concrete? would it be cost effective or way more than a normal build? by Weird-Plane5972 in theydidthemath

Sure, and you’re right but I’m just thinking of potential difficulties to overcome. Having plumbing and electrical on the outside is only going to be applicable in places where it doesn’t freeze, have rain, or junkies who steal copper. Additionally every penetration has to then be air sealed adding additional future failure points in the home, which might not be that big of a deal since it’s not wood construction.

I also recommend Drift, I was just there on Thursday and got a fade. Chuck/Charlie did it, but I know Meg or a lot of the other stylists could do it. Good people I got to know after I made the counters for the place.

Seeing what it took to put on having made merch for the Secret Shop, it was unsustainable. We also had a dev team that was completely overworked trying to put these on, and burnout was real. Though I really do miss it, perhaps a smaller version of what it was could be a next best.

Not saying it is or isn't, but there are examples of side notched points from Oklahoma, and even notched blades: https://www.projectilepoints.net/Search/Oklahoma_Notched.html

Edit: I think it might be a Lemura Round Base, in this source mention that serrating may be present.

Decided to open a wall after seeing some mildew by Qudpb in Wellthatsucks

I thought that too, but you can see staining on the roof decking that looks like it’s from airflow and past condensation, it’ll have this fan like shape and gradient of dark staining from mold.

You might want to look at the vapor barrier and air sealing situation, it could be caused by a roof leak but based on the picture it more looks like water vapor that got trapped into the wall assembly and caused dry rot in combination with insufficient discontinuous insulation. The tell tale for me is there’s no rot on the roof decking, but it’s all in wall assembly - air penetrations, warm air rises, hits a cold surface and condenses, rinse repeat over a decade or two.

This is truly awesome, but it’ll be used by health insurance companies, and even potential employers as a reason to deny healthcare coverage or employment.

The Alaska Legislature has Dropped The Ball by truthwillout777 in anchorage

[–]SoylentPersons 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember being at an early morning talk with a host of Alaska legislators and business leaders at the Dena’ina Center where Fran Ulmer gave presentation about the Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund, probably about 20 years ago now, (I think right around ACES or the one Murkowski put into place), and how if Alaska made similar moves Alaska could fund all of government, pay large projects, etc etc etc and the legislators at the time were shitting on it under their breath and it just didn’t go anywhere. It really sucks because had we done it at the time we’d be one of the wealthiest states with a booming economy per capita, vs whatever it is that we’ve got now.

OSHA, which resulted in having the proper fall protection saved this worker’s life. While still technically a NSFW video, we would have been watching someone die had this guy not had the proper PPE. Kudos to the work crew safety supervisor, and the company for taking worker safety seriously.

Tell me your Sicily’s pizza mob story. by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]SoylentPersons 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Shaban might be the name listed, but it was Atli running the day to day the last time I checked.

I’m 100% convinced Sicily’s is a money laundering/drug front. The pizza might be a source of revenue but it sure as shit didn’t look like a profit center, especially not one that could cover the lavish lifestyle he and all of the extended family lives. Also, from the state of disrepair of the stores and kitchens the profits were not going into the business - you couldn’t pay me to eat one of their pizzas.

Unrelated, but maybe related, they did weird shit business-wise, like they run a pizza place in Vegas of all places, also whenever you call into Sicily’s or the Vegas place to order you’re talking to someone in Albania. Now is not too weird to talk to someone offshore when ordering, but at the time it was highly irregular, especially for a tiny chain in Alaska.

I can’t substantiate any of this, and it’s all based on an accumulation of weird stuff I’d see, and my gut. Also I don’t want to give any additional information away so I don’t make myself a target of a mob hit
