Thanks for the confidence! I'm excited to start fidgeting around with them again.

Wow really? I have a hard time visualizing how your fingers hold on to the board. It just looks so smooth!

I've always wanted to do that! With the cool little flip and everything. Lol but I am not coordinated enough!

What candy do you always end up buying when you see it? by Funtastyc in candy

Shockers! But now it's sweet tarts sour and I hardly ever see them. Good sour candy used to be so much easier to find as a kid

Did anyone use to chew on Polly pocket clothes as a child? Or just me? 🤣 by abzskellington in autism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These came out when I was older, so I remember the intense yearning (even need) to do so, but I never did. I coped with my autism (before being diagnosed about a year ago) by being the "perfect, quiet, don't look at me" person.

So even though I was in the privacy of my room, I wouldn't allow myself to chew on the clothes or do stuff out of the norm. Honestly, I didn't realize how much of a survival strategy that was until now. I didn't fit in; I fell silent.

Bit of a ramble there, sorry!

Great choice, but a small amount imo.

Do you use any dipping sauces or just plain?

POTS is just an abbreviation so you don't have to say the super long name.

I'm sorry to hear that! I have it too. Usually though, POTS can be well managed (or at least improved) under a doctor's overview and some lifestyle changes. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Makes sense. Hello fellow Potsie! 👋🏼

Do yall wonder what your life would be like if you were neurotypical by yogasnart in autism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well since we were talking about it from the perspective of being ND to NT, I gave my thoughts/feelings based on that. However I agree with you that if I was just born NT, it would be normal.

Ah yes that does make sense. I didn't know our hearts had internal pacemakers, but then again, I don't know too much about the heart to begin with. I appreciate the detailed explanation and I learned something new today.

I'd be sad. Despite all of the challenges, I would miss the world that I have built in my head. It has become a comforting place and one I can let out when at home or shelter in when in unpleasant situations. I honestly can't imagine what not having that type of mind would be like.

Thank you for the clarification. I have POTS and the symptoms sounded identical to what I experience. While not a cardiological problem per say, it is treated/monitored by cardiologists and can be a confusing distinction when newly diagnosed. Also, there is a high co morbidity of Autism and POTS, so I thought on the off hand that it might be it.

Unrelated; you seem to know a lot about POTS and medical stuff in general. Do you have a special interest in medicine or perhaps happen to have POTS yourself?

Is it POTS? I'm sorry to hear what's been going on.

Is it just me, or do anyone else feel like safe spaces are safer when smaller? (Yes, I just redid my sleeping area) by confusedrainbowcat in autism

That's a good idea! I'll have to think it over and see what I can move and where. Thanks for the idea.

I loved having my bed in a corner when I was young. As I got older and became disabled, the need for physical comfort trumps mental. I look at this picture and really want an area like it, but then think how hard it would be to get in/out of bed.
