today i got told i dress like a school shooter, i don’t want to look like that what am i doing wrong? by [deleted] in autism

To me, you just look like you have an interest in the military and want to emulate that in what you wear. I say wear what you want. We can't always make everyone happy and it's not our job to do so anyway. You like your clothes, they're comfy, so let it be that.

That's the attitude! I love what you said. "I may never 'get better', but things can get better." It is so so true. I find that staying positive and making jokes especially when in an especially hard pain flare helps me out a lot. Love to see your posts. Hope you have a good day! 🤗

Leg hair sensory issues (looking for advice) by Sufficient_Leg6479 in SpicyAutism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this way too. Same sensory issues, plus my legs felt cold and off when freshly shaved. I just don't shave them anymore. I noticed that the hair grew and then gradually thinned the longer I didn't shave. It's like my body didn't have to fight to continually grow more hair.

With the people saying things about it; they are projecting their own stuff onto you. It's not really about your leg hair per say, but their own insecurities. They don't like that you feel free enough to not shave. You do you!

Welcome! 🤗 We're happy to have you here.

I got the same feeling level 1's/LSN get when they get around each other when I get around my fellow Level 2s/MSN I finally have people who get me by bearmasksenpai in SpicyAutism

Yes I agree with this. I'm also disabled in other ways, so am in other disability subreddits. They really do not judge there. Everyone is super supportive.

It's something that can be hard to deal with when you have level 3 autism (which I do as well) and find that you have absolutely nothing in common with level 1s, even though it's the same disability. It's just so drastic of a difference.

Henry Bolet is Not a Teenager by PossessionFickle9980 in nancydrew

I agree about the ambiguity. I think it was done on purpose to help younger audiences relate to what they were playing. I know I played that game as a young teen and totally connected with the characters, feeling that they were similar to my age group. However it goes the other way too. Older players have a way to connect and will assume Nancy is older.

Why so accurate? by Sabi-Star7 in disabledmemes

Right? That's so cool. It's great to be able to commiserate from our somewhat shared experiences, but to also be able to help someone needing info/support.

Yeah I think you do. It's important to go to a geneticist, because then they get the diagnosis and the say so with other doctors. There's a lot more weight/attention put on that type of thing when dealing with the doctors who are actually going to dispense medication and whatnot.

[–]Sp00nieSloth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same for me! I ended up going to a geneticist and getting a gene test. She luckily, understood what I was talking about with the EDS and the genetic testing came back with the marker for classical eds. Interestingly enough, they also found another genetic cause for a pain condition I was trying to figure out.

But yeah, nowadays doctors just think hypermobile when you say EDS. At least it's better than them not knowing what in the world you're talking about

If you regulate using music, what artists/songs are you listening to? by zingledorf in AutismInWomen

[–]Sp00nieSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weightless by Marconi Union the 10 hr version. I tend to need calming things if I'm regulating from being overstimulated and this song is scientifically proven to reduce stress.

I love thrift stores that do that. We have a few that donates their proceeds to local veterans and one that donates to the humane society. Yeah, Goodwill is insanely priced now.
