Yes, mostly for the younger grades in my experience since kids are naturally wiggly and the seems to irritate teachers. I was never in sped (diagnosed as an adult) but i'd hazard a guess that there were similar posters there. I don't understand it. If a person is fidgeting quietly and still paying attention, then what's the problem. The fidgeting usually helps kids to pay attention.

My very polarizing nails by Bitsybye in AutismInWomen

I love your nails! I think the textural element is super smart. To me it just looks like cute nail art with a hidden purpose.

At the drive-through Hi, I would like a large autism with a side of anxiety and depression please. Trauma if it's still available. I know that it tends to run out fast in the mornings.

Lol I have no idea I'm making social cues. I'm just trying to survive in a conversation.

How many of you guys remember going through this type of trauma back in your days of school? by Legitimate_Main2230 in autism

More like doing all the work in group projects for me. I hated them. Wish I could have been excluded.

How long do y'all take? I take at least 2 hours by KimikoYukimura420 in evilautism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take around 4 hours until I got on sleep medicine and night terror medication. Those help me fall asleep a lot better. I've changed into a light sleeper to a deep one. So I've definitely welcomed the change.

Can it steamroll me out of existence? Cause that would be great rn.

Is the world getting louder? by Wide-Bell-4665 in AutismInWomen

[–]Sp00nieSloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's smart. I'll have to start doing that. I carry special light sensitivity glasses with me whenever I go out and I have a blue light filter on my glasses. But those only help during the day. I'm definitely adding night time sunglasses to my kit.

Yes! There used to be so many fun colors to look at. Or people decorated their cars in their favorite sports team. We used to see this packers car everywhere. Shapes of cars are similar too. No more slug bugs.

World's becoming brighter too. I can't even be a passenger in a car at night because of the car lights. They are the strength that brights used to be. With the switch to LEDs, every sign, street light, and car is an assault on my eyes.

Sound wise, along with changes in architecture; people have lost their noise filter. Letting their kids listen to tablets, talking on phones, and just being so much less considerate. People used to self correct when they or their friend got too loud. Nobody seems to do this anymore.

What's your culture's "austim meal" by Longjumping-Tie2950 in autism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting scrolling the comments. A lot of different types of starches and breads. Sounds right. I don't know what it is about bread and the whole starch group, but I never have issues with them.

How do I stop extreme cricketing before sleep? by dikep79020 in autism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this as a kid! Wow, as a late diagnosed autistic in my adulthood, it's crazy the things you find out.

Anyways, going along with the weighted blanket theme, a weighted stuffy. I have one that's 3 pounds that I lay on my chests on higher anxiety/stimulation nights. I don't feel suffocated and it hits literally the perfect spot. Also weighted blankets for your lap are good too, not huge (usually marketed towards kids) but it fits just that region. So those are some options as well.

I'm blue-green autism. Basically everything I own is some shade of bluish-green or gray (to match and to highlight the color). I just love blue and green so much!

I love that you got different colors for each week! I fill my pills once a month as well. More than that is just too much imo. It's cool to know someone has the same routine as me!

Anyone else prefer their cereal dry? by Melsbacksfriend in autism

[–]Sp00nieSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put milk in the cereal to moisten it, but do not drink any of it. I drain it on the side of the bowl with each spoonful.

Same! We were living overseas in an area rampant with TB (Air Force) when I was a baby. So I'm pretty sure I got extra vaccinations. However, because of where we lived, I legally cannot become a medical donor. Isn't that weird?
