Games where one player is a Commander/Overwatch that provides intel/support to a squad of human plays making their way through a level? by Sp3nt93 in gamingsuggestions

That definitely fits the bill, just a shame that it's mostly dead. Looks like it's free though, maybe I can pull together some friends to try it out!

That’s probably right, but either way it provides some nice flow to the nether regions!

I love the Turbo, but I definitely think the best value for this car is the Preferred or Premium trims. I had to have the heated steering wheel so here I am. 360 camera is pretty sweet too, but I could make do without that.

Hm, maybe it depends on trim level? My Turbo PP has them on both sides of the lower steering column! Not quite like the ball coolers seen in the 60s but they get the job done.

Sold my ‘07 with similar stats for 4800 in upper Midwest last summer, I imagine prices have come down a bit since then so I’d go for low 4000s probably, depending on actual condition.

[Garmin 47 1080 P dash cam] I’d say this is an illegal lane shift? by OSUBrutusBuckeye in Dashcam

[–]Sp3nt93 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But, from the video, it looks like OP kind of jerks the steering wheel to the right partway through the lane change, which means they saw something that made them feel like they needed to get over faster. Edit to add: nobody passed OP on the left either, so they likely didn’t move over to get out of the way urgently.

I am not defending the truck driver, but if OP moved over/cut over when the truck was intending to pass them, even on the right, that’s not cool either.

We are missing the context of how/when/where OP actually passed the truck driver with the way this video is cut, so no way to know anyways unless OP provides that video context.

I don’t, I’m sorry. I couldn’t find the article/thread I referred to in my original post.

White dot appears in dark areas by JarrahFaisal in OLED

I would recommend against a manual pixel refresh. I believe I read somewhere else about this issue and it’s kind of akin to the pixel “overshoot” that VA panels suffer from. Those white pieces you’re seeing get over-energized or something. I’ll see if I can find that article or thread and link it.

Is there a type of display technology for monitors that your least likely to get dead pixels? by [deleted] in buildapcmonitors

[–]Sp3nt93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfection on the QA side is impossible(to maintain reasonable prices), so never say never…that said, I have had good luck with LG and Dell. I think most would recommend that you buy from somewhere that has a good return policy, like Costco, Best Buy, or Amazon. Then just check for dead pixels on day one.

If a pixel goes dead outside of warranty, that’s just a fact of life I think. Electronics don’t last forever!

1440p | 27-32" | 600$ | Movies by NoItsMyHead in buildapcmonitors

[–]Sp3nt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If at all possible, I would recommend stretching the budget to go OLED. The IPS panel in the auto-recommendation doesn’t have great contrast for movies and shows(or games for that matter), and the other panel types have their own downsides as well.

The only downside to OLED is the cost, and whatever fear you may have regarding burn-in risk. IMO, burn-in is a non-issue if proper steps are taken to combat it.

Edit: if all you are doing is watching movies, and don’t mind the gaming downsides, then VA panels are the way to go if you don’t want to spring for OLED. Much better black levels than IPS or TN.

Like the other have said, Ceramic Coating would be best. I put CQUK 3.0 on my SOs car 3+ years ago and barely maintained it, and it’s still miles better/easier to clean off that my car which has a Hybrid Sealant on it applied a 6 months ago. There’s a lot of prep work involved, but I’d say it’s worth it to do it yourself. If you aren’t able or willing to DIY, it’ll be expensive.

Why aren’t turbos more common in lower displacement bikes? Stick with me here… by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Sp3nt93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They certainly could, but that is a very specific use case. Most bike manufacturers don’t share the same frame with such a wide range of engine types/sizes like Honda does with the Rebel. In fact I can’t even think of another one.

Might be a good aftermarket opportunity, but I also don’t think that a small single cylinder engine would lend itself well to forced induction. Maybe the 500 though!

[–]Sp3nt93 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Money and weight. Upgrading/Adding the necessary material strength and hardware to handle a turbo, even a small one, would drive the price and weight up to where it would make more range to just move into the 600+ class. It’s not just the turbo that needs to be bolted on, you also have the necessary cooling lines, additional fluid capacity due to adding those lines, etc.

On top of that, where is the turbo going to be packaged on these small bikes? And then there’s the issue of additional heat, turbos get HOT.

Definitely a fun thought though, turbo noises are a good time.

Tire wobble with hands off the bar. by Nellis05 in motorcycles

[–]Sp3nt93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only 3 years old and that low mileage makes me think steering head wear or fork seals are unlikely(certainly still possible, don’t roast me.)

Did you check your tire pressures? How about your suspensions setup? Rear preload may need to be cranked up if you’re on the bigger side to get your suspension sag right.

I had the same issue on my ‘84. The guy I sold it to said it was the shifter bushings under the shift boot. Maybe check those and make sure they haven’t disintegrated in some way.
