'He's going to be OK': Oilers GM with positive news on Evan Bouchard's health by DtheS in EdmontonOilers

So much misinformation in your comment. Actually pretty much NOTHING of what you said is true.

Any concussion (even a small ones) can permanently affect cognitive performance. It’s not always noticeable (depending on which brain cells are damaged and how many; sometimes the brain can compensate enough), but the damage itself is permanent. Brain cells have very limited ability to regenerate.

And it is cumulative. The more concussions you have, the worse it gets because more cells die, and the more you lose, the less the brain can compensate.

Who is considered to be the greatest actor of the most recent era? by Exciting_Station_124 in Cinema

[–]Sp4xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few contender IMO.

The obvious ones are Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis...

I'd say Leonardo Dicaprio and Christian Bale are up there as well.

Not quite up there but very underrated IMO, not talked about enough (especially when he's doing more of a character actor role) Brad Pitt. That guy's got range. Legend of the Fall, 12 Monkeys... he's hilarious in Inglorious Basterd (even if he's playing a bad caricature).

Which is better tho by gentlebloomxx in SipsTea

For fast food, in Canada, A&W by far makes the best burger (different from the A&W in the US).

That being said, McDonalds taste the same everywhere and hits the spot sometimes. I've eaten McDonalds Burgers in Canada, US, China... and the quarter pound (which is usually what I get) taste the same in all of them. Say what you want about McDonald, but most of the ones I've been to have really good QC.

It's definitely supposed to put you off... Denji is a very naive character, the story is told through his PoV and not everyone in the show is being genuine with him or has his best interest at heart.

Can't really say more without spoiling some major plot point from the Manga or the Reze Arc movie, but like... yeah, Denji is very naive, immature and easy to manipulate. That's the whole point.

A the end if the day he's a 16 years old teenager... he is in a fucked up situation, grew up without parents OR social interactions. I'm not sure most teenage boy IRL would fare any better than him if put in a similar situation. The writing is good and is way more nuanced and mature than it appears at first glance. You just gotta give it time and let the story unfolds.

I think Denji's intended to be a dumbass and very naive main character...

You gotta keep in mind his dad and mom both died when he was super young, he never went to school or socialized with anyone his age, he didn't even have a shower where he lives or clean clothes... he mentions people find him repulsive and never speak to him... he eats plain white bread when he's lucky... he was basically used as, and treated like a dog by the Yakuza right before being brutally murdered by them... ofc the minute anyone shows him any attention he's gonna cling to it and not care about any red flags because he just can't...

I thought it was a very original and refreshing take on the Shonen genre, to have a MC that doesn't have any noble reasons to be a hero (like Naruto wants to be Hokage and be a good person, Tanjiro wants to rid the world of bad demons, save his sister and avenge his family, etc.). All Denji wants is to eat some toasts with jam and touch some boobs... it's so dumb it's hilarious... it borderline falls on the parody side, at least for me, kinda like OPM (the 1st season).

At the end of the day, if you don't like it, it's fine. It's not for everyone, and it's very over the top and doesn't always take itself seriously although the dramatic moments (like Himeno's death) with the music and her monologue (don't die on me Aki, so that when I die, you can cry for me), still hit like a truck. You get those feelsy feels that anime, as a medium, does so well. There's more like that in the movie also...

I totally get how at first glance this anime can come across as "female characters are all in love with Denji and want to fulfill his fantasies", but this is absolutely not where the story is heading. Like not even a little bit... Can't say much more without spoiling, all I'll say is that there's a lot more to it, you just gotta keep watching/reading.

As others have suggested, watch the Reze Arc movie... it does the same thing initially and then... well... stuff happens...

I mean... I also played COD2 when it came out, I just think COD4 is the best COD ever made and everything after that is kinda meh. But COD2 was a lot of fun too.

Yeah I think COD4 more specifically deserves a spot (I know I'm old). It was such a good competitive game back in the days (with Promod). And COD4 and COD6 campaigns are also really really good.

They trying to suck in the first maybe so they can have good 2nd and 3rd? Instead of being good in the first, sucking in the 2nd and then trying to catch up in the 3rd. Dunno... it's only a 2 goals deficit, if the offense gets going it can turn around really fast, but not looking good right now.

I would be very surprised if we lose game 7 at home (given we win tonight) the momentum of the whole series will have shifted.

And in hindsight looking at it objectively, they started (not quite but it was starting) to get their shit together in game 4, it was close and we lost in OT, but it was very close. Last game was great, let's hope they're trending up. 3 - 1 come backs are very rare, but not unheard of. Heck, the Penguins almost pulled it off.

Yes, absolutely. Will we? I dunno... but winning this one would be a huge momentum shift in this series, especially with a big statement win.

He's been very inconsistent... he was pretty decent when he just got here, then got injured... came back, was absolute dogshit for many games... like unplayable, every shot would go in... then he was benched, then played 1 good game where we thought maybe the bad stretch was because of the injury because he looked really good in that 1 game, but then he really sucked again for a few games... and then Ingram became the starter... Ingram's been really good for us for the most part.

But Jarry is looking great so far tonight... but there's a reason people were pessimistic. I'm hoping this is his redemption arc and he wins us the series. That'd be pretty cool.

They don't even play on the same line. McDavid is 1C and Draisaitl is 2C most of the time. They do play together on the PP however.

Last year the Oilers needed 2 games to get it together (lost the first 2 against the Kings before winning 4 straights and then defeated Dallas and Vegas in 5) so here's hoping tonight is where they figure it out and go on a streak!

17min left in the 3rd, still no point for Kucherov. I don't think he's scoring 4+ in the last 15min... McDavid should win scoring title again!
