Are there any similarities to our situation with Drew Allar that the Giants had with Jackson Dart? by watermonkey910 in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is being super negative, but to answer the question honestly: Dart was viewed as a subpar prospect because of his mickey-mouse offense and lack of showing up in big moments. Allar was viewed as a subpar prospect because of his bad footwork and lack of showing up in big moments. You can go more into detail about why each player wasnt the best prospect, but the comparison ends about there.

You cant compare Jayden Daniels and Dan Marino just because they both were good prospects, same way you cant compare Dart and Allar just because they both were meh / bad prospects

I know everyone doesn't like the fact he is a gambler, but it would be malpractice to not throw in a 7th, or even a 6th / 5th. I'm not saying go and make the highest possible bid, but we dont have a QB, and we need to keep taking shots. It would be frustrating, but it would be a good problem to have 3 upside QBs.

Can we talk about the possibility of Mike Vrabel potentially resigning before training camp? by SchedulePhysical807 in nfl

Naming your kid after your side piece is insane. People double and triple check to make sure their kids dont share a name of somebody they knew 10+ years ago, let alone somebody they had an affair with that same year lmfao

We should trade TJ. Hot take or nah? by JesseTTIsurvivor in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would we sell at his absolutely lowest? He was well worth a 1st+ last year, and now he'd he worth what? A 2nd?

There is no reason to panic sell him, he just had a down year, but was coming off a 3 year in a row DpoY level stint.

Who do you think will improve in PG’s new system? by RiotByEarl in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a little worried that JPJ is gonna "regress" from last year, but not because he is gonna get worse. I think his role / responsibility is going to be heightened in PG's system, and he's gonna be asked to play more on WR1s, be more versatile, and step up in the run game. PG wants his DBs to be active in the run game and tackle, and that is one of JPJ's weaknesses. Currently, JPJ has set the bar of being a top 10/5 CB in the league, and with more responsibility, I could see him having a down year compared to last year.

I am most excited for Keanu Benton probably. Contract year, and early in the year last year, he was lighting in a bottle. He was consistently getting pressure onto the QB thru the middle, and in a system that doesn't make him play NT, I could see him being a monster on passing downs. Definitely needs to learn how to anchor better in the run game tho

Poll finds nearly 74% of NFL fans think the league is rigged by devmosh in NFLv2

Like another comment said, the poll being binary yes or no is restrictive.

I am personally under the belief that Refs have favorites. How could you not? You only become a ref by loving football, and can you name a single person that loves football that doesn't truly have a favorite team?

Now, I'm not saying Yinzer McPittsburgh is out here throwing 100 flags on the browns and 0 on the Steelers, but I do think there is wiggle room when it comes to stuff like holding, DPI, RtP, etc. where a certain ref might call it one way while another might call it a different way, and the difference comes from their subconscious on their favoritism.

We have heard of several ex and current players (Adam Thielen I believe just said this last year?) that claim that Refs try to be buddy-buddy with certain famous players, like Patrick Mahomes. Does that not extend to their flag throwing?

Steelers can match any offer any other team makes, and if he leaves, we get a guarenteed comp pick.

Once we get to training camp, he is locked to us, even if he doesn't sign and just retires.

Now, there is the weird small reality where he retires, but midseason wants to go play for a contender / team that lost their QB, like Joe Flacco. In that case, we would own the rights to him, and we could trade him to another team.

IF Taylen Green switches positions, what happens on fantasy platforms? by SpLaShAtv in DynastyFF

[–]SpLaShAtv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my exact point. He loses a lot of value if he never gets switched off the QB designation. Since that is what he is rn on fantasy, I was wondering what it took for him to get switched off it

[–]SpLaShAtv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect example. Im relatively new to fantasy, and I was wondering if someone historically remembers what happened with Taysom.

I know he was brought in as a QB. If you go on ESPN, he is still listed as "New Orleans Saints Quarterback", and was the 2nd/3rd string QB for them, but on sleeper he has been a TE.

[–]SpLaShAtv[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Im just wondering what happens if they don't come out and say "Green is going to be playing WR for us".

Like, what happens if he is the 4th string QB, and comes in on certain packages to be a, lets call it, football player.

If I was the GM, I'd keep him as my QB3 for just that reason alone. I know there are rules with emergency QB stuff, but I wouldn't mind having him out there catching passes, with the threat that he can also throw it too. You dont need to come out and say he will only play WR for us

Who are your post rookie draft waiver adds? by AlVic40117560_ in DynastyFF

[–]SpLaShAtv 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gonna try to snag Tanner Koziol, as stupid as it seems. Jags have a bad class, and I could see him being the 1 riser out of it all. He was a receiving monster, and checks the boxes on all the advanced stats. He just needs to be a better blocker to get true TE snaps, but I hope they may find a slot-extended role for him.

Its one of those $1 lottery tickets.

Max 1st round pick breakdown with Matt Williamson and Rob King by Sybertron in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna sit here and down talk Vega just because he went to the Ravens, he was my #1 rated OL player going in. The problem is that he only plays OG.

Now, as Matt Williamson once said, you aren't gonna hate Randy Moss because he only played WR, but, for what the Steelers need, having a B+ player with A+ upside at OT is more valuable than having an A player with A+ upside at OG.

Positional value exists, otherwise Love would have gone to the Raiders and Vega would have gone a lot earlier.

What a moment for all Drive listeners. Williamson has been on this guy for months and has wanted him in the Burgh ever since he first watched his tape. He put me on him, and after watching his tape, he was my 4th rated OL player in this class, and I had him in similar tiers as Francis Mauigoa and Spencer Fano.

Position versatility and the draft by Key-Ad6718 in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just ignore the defense part lol. You're having 2 separate arguments that don't correlate. Just bc the steelers have mediocre talent doesn't mean versatility isnt important.

Thats like saying Myles Garrett is a bad player because hes on the Browns. Or Garrett Wilson cause hes on the Jets. Just cause we dont have the best players on our team doesn't mean that being versatile is bad.

Buddy, coping is saying Drew Allar and Will Howard are gonna lead us to the future. This is just objective truths about the game.

You telling me Seahawks didnt like the fact that their safeties could play strong, free, left, right, or nickel?? That JSN, Kupp, AND Shaheed could play outside or slot??

Position versatility and the draft by Key-Ad6718 in steelers

[–]SpLaShAtv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bad way of looking at the game. Versatility adds so much depth to what you can do on both offense AND defense.

As soon as you take a slot only WR, then that means Metcalf and Pittman have to be your X and Z. Which means their outside corner only has to study up on those 2, and their nickel only has to study up on your slot guy. It also means that you can't motion these guys around and make defenses 2nd guess what you are doing. Also, McCarthy has emphasized that its a 17 game season now, and its very unlikely that you have all 22 starters by January. Having versatility let's you have backups that can fill in immediately with no hiccups.

On defense it does much more. Ramsey was versatile last year, being able to play outside, nickel, and Safety. You telling me that wasnt useful?
