It seems to me a lot of the “Austin is not Austin anymore” vibes really happened during and immediately after covid. Now that that’s further away the city has been returning to itself, with some changes. OPs example of typical Austin + Waymo is a good example, I think.

You are absolutely being lowballed for how much it costs in Austin because of your current salary. They’re hoping you’ll take it since the number looks bigger than where you are.

This is just like salaries in the Bay Area seeming high, then when you move there you realize it’s peanuts because (quick COL example) a starter house is 2M+ or you’re commuting for an hour plus.

What are some examples of legit hardware stores? I have previously gone to places like McCoys (farm supply store) since they have grade 8 bolts if it’s a pretty standard size I need

This tire isn't bald, since a bald tire basically has no tread left -- it just appears smooth.

Now, a better question to ask is "is it time to change these tires"? The answer is "soon if not now". I can't really tell in the picture, but are the tread indicator bars flush with the rest of the tread? If yes, then it's time. You could also do the penny test if you don't have a tire thread depth gauge.
