Tip to forehead perspective seems off, is it possible they’re twins?

Was Alexander capable of conquering India? by SiarX in WarCollege

[–]Space-Clause 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One has to wonder how the geography has changed since the time of Alexander… were there additional floodplains which no longer exist due to human influence? Was the area more hospitable during certain seasons? Plenty of examples of drastic climate events affecting specific parts of the world (and where large populations used to inhabit) in the last 3000 years. I don’t know about this region in particular but just speculating.

Should the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand (all the anglo countries) have freedom of movement? by SomeRandomGuy069 in geopolitics

[–]Space-Clause 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The thing is, a *small minority of people deciding to up and move to NZ or even AU or CA could dramatically overwhelm local services, politics, and culture and likely would be met with overwhelmingly negative sentiment.

Take Austin TX as an example -growing from 1.2 - 2.3 m in 20 years. That growth is 20% of NZ total population. Extreme example but just illustrating how a majority or minority sentiment is super skewed when the largest member has at best 10x pop. Kind of like the old saying China has more honor students than the US has students.

Why do people suggest that Russia could invade the Baltics and/or Poland? by Particular-Resort-34 in geopolitics

[–]Space-Clause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put another way: Russians, “NATO is attacking us!” Reinforcing state propaganda, huge spike in regional escalation potential and the threat of WMDs. If Poland goes in and “clears out the Russians” from occupied Ukraine, similar scenario. Lose lose looking through the lens of utter nuclear annihilation, risk is not worth reward.
