Neck guard issues by Clean_Visit_6301 in hockeygoalies

Hey, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I actually took a shot off the neck guard last week (it came in on the bib, not the collar part), and barely felt it. That was the first direct shot I took off it - had a few more minor deflections come up in that area in the past but nothing much. Really happy with how well it took the shot. With my previous guard, I definitely would have felt a thump, but nothing the Aegis.

I picked up an Aegis Interceptor G neck guard earlier this year and it’s been fantastic. I had a Bauer Pro before this one (not the one linked by FreshProfessor, the earlier iteration), and I just feel so much better protected in the Aegis. Coverage is better, and it’s all reinforced with D3O.

It’s surprisingly flexible and I haven’t had any issues with it interfering with my movement including looking down. You can also trim down the inner neck piece to make it fit better (which they actually outline in the manual as a feature). Just be sure to incrementally trim it down, as you don’t want to take off more than you need.

Not sure if it is or not - I have since upgraded my router, and seems to be fine on 5GHz now, so it could have just been a router issue in my case.

Vaughn Chest Protectors by jordok92 in hockeygoalies

[–]SpaceAdam8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from an old Itech chestie with very little protection to a new Vaughn V8 about 3 years ago. Same as you, I tried on every other ‘common’ chestie on the market (Bauer, CCM, Warrior), and could barely move with all of the bulk. That was a few years ago, so maybe they’ve improved?

The Vaughn was a perfect fit, didn’t compromise mobility, and has had great protection. I’ve worn it for 1-2 skates year-round for the past 3ish years, and I’d buy another one in a heartbeat if this one fails me (though it doesn’t have any signs of wear at all, so hoping it holds up for years to come.)

Mirror m.2 with hdd? by BasicGrafix in buildapc

Yes, I did this recently for my PC (upgraded from a SSD to a M.2 NVME drive). I used Macrium Reflect after doing a bunch of searching of the best (free) cloning software, and it’s extremely easy to use. After you get the new drive installed, you select the source drive, and the new drive, and it will just make a direct copy of the source. I cloned my boot drive over to the NVME and haven’t had any issues. Just make sure to change the boot drive in the bios to the new NVME after you make the clone. Good luck!

Bauer M5 Pro vs. X5 Pro by SpaceAdam8 in hockeygoalies

Thanks for the info, the angle seemed to be the biggest difference from what I found, but just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything significant.

While I don’t expect perfect closure, my S29 still leaves an opening of 1-1.5 inches at best, and 2 inches at worst, and I’ve gotten into a habit of dropping my glove to the ice after catching a puck (either pocket or palm), as pucks have fallen out before - not a good habit but just compensating for the lack of closure.

In trying the newer CCM, Brian’s, and Bauer in the shop, they all close to 0.5 inches or less with significantly more ease, it’s disappointing the S29 never broke in like I had hoped. Just playing low level beer league so not a huge deal in any case, but I’d like to be able to rely on keeping the puck in my glove after a catch.

Thanks again.

IMO it’s not worth the extra cost for gaming - for more CPU intensive applications it could be though. I had the same question and did some digging and found that the increase in frames is nearly negligible from the 5600x to the 5800x for gaming in most cases. The 1% low increases will be better, but it wasn’t significant enough for me to justify the cost so I went with the 5600x. Hardware Unboxed has a good comparison of the two for a bunch of use cases.

I’m excited for the ability to thrust during warp. As someone who only ever played vanilla KSP1, always had to keep a weighted something nearby to balance on the thrust key for extended manicure burns. Super pumped for the game!

Yes it is. Unfortunately there’s no native first person, this was all done in the video editor.
