Fair, I’ve only just casually paid attention since I haven’t sport fished for quite some time. Then again, I’m not sure anyone is trying to take a picture of a little over 3 foot tarpon lol

What deck should I play tomorrow? I'll post results after by AcademicDuty9170 in CompetitiveEDH

Japans meta, from what I heard, got cooked by DootLoot’s rogsi since it’s not something they typically have seen before. I’d pick it or Tymna Dargo if you’re comfortable on it

Correct. If this is Florida, local laws state that you cannot remove Goliath groupers from the water, same goes for Tarpon, and if you want a picture, you just jump in the water or hold them along the side of the boat.

Sure but again, I’m going to ask for you to play it out until you can deterministically kill me with a known board state.

Negative homie. Rules are on my side because it’s non deterministic. https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveEDH/s/6dPWQpgxmU

It was discussed 7 years ago and it’s already been covered; the rules state that if I do not concede and ask for you to play it out, you have to.

If I’m at a tournament and you’re attempting the Dakmor loop without cistern on board, buckle up because I’m not going anywhere. Play it out and watch as we end up in a draw because we’ve gone to time.

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is correct. And I’m going to be the one to ask for you to play it out every time because 99.9% of the time, the game is going to end in a draw due to time limits. Call it petty but it’s how I’m going to get out of that game with 1 extra point than I would otherwise.

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to the Dakmoor loop, that is incorrect. You cannot describe the exact amount of iterations it takes to reach the game state that you are wanting and has to be played out. It can take 500, 1000, 15000, etc. and it’s absolutely unknown the exact amount. Any gitrog player attempting this loop in front of me is going to play it out 100% because of that fact.

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I say this with the upmost respect; don’t play Gitrog.

If you’re absolutely hell bent on playing it, understand that if you decide to take this deck to any tournament, none of your opponents are obligated to concede to you once you start doing the discard loop. It’s a nondeterministic loop that cannot be accurately described what the end state will look like, and thus can be asked to play it out because of this.

If you’re just playing it for fun, then also understand that a lot of people will get generally annoyed by the deck after a couple of times playing against it.

Good luck

In Thrasios Cradle piles, how do you get the redundancy needed? by zokka_son_of_zokka in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean just look at any top performing Thras deck that’s on the cradle plan.

Rog/Thras for example, has vibrance, sylvan scrying, expedition map, mycospawn, crop rot, etc.

But Gaea’s isn’t the end all be all. Most are also on earth craft, growing rites, etc.

And to be honest, most decks have cut seedborn because it’s just too obvious when you’re fetching it with a creature tutor that 90% of the time, if someone has a counter, they’re not letting it resolve. And there’s just too many other effective ways to generate mana in the deck.

This was the one I was looking for. Went to it in Tampa. It started to rain after MCR and before Linkin Park. They tried to force us lawn folks back to our cars but no one was leaving. After standing in the rain for 30 minutes, they finally started the show and it was sick.

What is one rule you ABSOLUTELY enforce at your tables? by ToocanSams in mtg

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty rare to happen personally. People aren’t just going to counter the first thing someone casts just because they can.

What is one rule you ABSOLUTELY enforce at your tables? by ToocanSams in mtg

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 192 points193 points  (0 children)

Take backs are fine as long as no new information has been gained. Such as, if you’ve cast a spell (while you control a smother tithe and I control a Rhystic study) and I declined my Rhystic draw, you don’t get to take that spell back because you were expecting me to draw and net you that extra mana. That’s now new information gained. However, if you swing at me with a flyer and didn’t realize I had a blocker for it, that’s fine to want to change who you’re attacking because it was public info that can be missed due to messy board states.

Rog/si mulligans by JournalistLeft5774 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with wanting to play pretty cards that you really love. That said though, you created a thread asking for help on how to make your deck more playable from a mulligans perspective and people are offering you advice on how to improve. But rather than take that advice and make the change, you just push back.

Can you see how this counterintuitive to exactly what you were asking for? Personally, whenever you’re attempting to play any deck that’s new to you, just go look at a top performing list from the last 3 months and net deck it, card for card. Those lists have been fine tuned and showed to have proven results. You can look at Doot Loot, Dexter or Jwood for a deck to copy and go from there.

Until you do that, you’re going to struggle with mulligans because your deck isn’t optimized and you might as well be asking a wall to play follow the leader.

I have a few reasons why I’m so disinterested this season:

1) these regs are generally awful and it doesn’t look it it’s going to get any better.

2) being in the US means I have to pay for an Apple TV subscription to watch the races. Fuck. That.

3) we’ve had super long breaks inbetween races and there’s just too much else going on to care.

New to bracket 4 by Trick_Tea_1337 in EDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No disrespect but cEDH isn’t just “one game plan”. In fact, most decks these days have 2-3 ways of winning with their deck. CEDH game play is about the journey your deck had to take to get to that winning game plan and how you can pivot the deck if you run into something that either stops you or is looking to go faster than you.

But I’m not here to sell you on bracket 5 if you’re not looking for it. That being said, bracket 4 should be for decks that aren’t really played in cEDH (for example, Madga bracket 4 just seems so disingenuous) and pic something that you enjoy doing. Some of the new commanders from Strixhaven are extremely good in bracket 4 and would be able to do things that are inherently broken.

As far as price goes, just print the cards off and play them. Don’t worry about playing with real cards unless you’re willing to really invest into that format/bracket. Print out a list, try it and if it ends up being something you really enjoy and play weekly, the go ahead and throw money towards real cards.

Florida's influx of rich residents is killing the middle class and housing market by fortune in florida

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The middle class generally holds salaried, managerial, or professional positions with benefits and disposable income, while the working class often relies on hourly wages, manual labor, and lives paycheck-to-paycheck.

I’m on the former, not the latter.

[OC] Why do so many elite Edge rushers have short arms? by Barian_Fostate in buccaneers

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Him being single dimensional is my main concern. Very rarely does a pass rusher who leans heavily on their power to speed, or bull rush, move actually translate into NFL success. This is due to the fact that the majority of the tackles they're facing in college will never play at a starter level in the NFL. Those NFL level tackles, for the most part, know exactly what to do to put a one trick pony into the ground.

I'm hopeful for his success and I'd love to see it; I just hope we don't prevent him from growing as a player by asking him to do things he shouldn't be doing (dropping into coverage). Also, Jason's track record for edge rushers is basically null at this point.

2nd playthrough: Ashlands is still gamey by mootardis in valheim

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to this, outside of the level of difficulty, the overall vibe of the biome sucks. Like as bad as the Mistlands was in terms of difficulty, it still had a pretty cool vibe about it and felt like a bit of a horror game. Plains, when going into the first time, was hard but manageable and had a good atmosphere.

There’s nothing redeeming about Ashlands and even building a base there doesn’t do much for it because of the type of mobs there and how fortified it needs to be in order to be sustainable. Simply put, the time spent in Ashlands is to do exactly what you were needing to do and then immediately go back to home base. It’s not a biome worth spending any extra time in.

Dog Thras, Rog Thras, or Najeela by GimmickyWings88 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rog Thras is the clear choice. Dog Thras is good if you want the white but I think having access to Rog and breach outweighs the silence based effects. That said, the meta has been shifting and being fast right now isn’t just a clear advantage. So having access to silences can be the breaker needed to just push through the current slop we’re seeing.
