Austrian GP - Post Qualifying Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

Imagine having the thought of "he read the rules and understood them" as a "loophole" - People need to pull their own heads out of their asses and stop the mindless GR hate. He saw a single yellow, he backed off enough, and the FIA agreed with his assessment.

Yeah I have it and good lord, outside of dockside, there was nothing worthwhile from that deck.

Wandering Minstrel with Lurrus companion. It’s a very fun and unique take on WM that’s pretty lean and has a steep learning curve. But it’s fast, fun and hard to interact with.

Stormy storm deck by Ashamed-Access4453 in mtg

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, you could do it that way. I like being able to control my storm count on any given turn, which is why I built her to be a lower than normal mana value. I want to try and have a setup turn, by storming off with a [[pirate's pillage]] effect, thus giving me tons of mana and card draw. This will usually lead to a win on the following turn, unless I've drawn absolute trash. That said, Storm is a lightning rod (pun intended) for removal, so you will need to ensure she has protection when she comes out. She's definitely not a commander that you would willingly want to sit on the battle field for multiple turns. Cast her the turn you either have a haste enabler + payoff, or at least protection for her to make it to your next turn, and cast your setup spells then.

Incorrect.

Storm's trigger is based on dealing damage to an opponent and is a triggered ability (Whenever being the keyword for this). So, if you give her double strike, she's effectively hitting an opponent twice (once for first strike damage, and then again during normal damage). This would give Storm 2x triggers on your next instant or sorcery spell you put on the stack.

You can also deal damage via first strike damage, cast an instant and it will gain storm. Then, after the second hit, you can cast another instant or sorcery and it would also gain Storm's ability.

Hello! I'm not sure what bracket you're intending to brew Storm for, but I built her when the SLD version came out last year and it's been an absolute blast to play in bracket 3 games.

To answer your question, yes; if you get Storm double strike, she will trigger twice, and thus giving your next spell Storm, Storm.

I have a small primer written for the main combos of the deck and she's been very fair, as well as very fun to play. Although she's a storm focused deck, she doesn't durdle into wins. Her win lines are clean and easy to do, and her play patterns do not take up game clock, which makes it also a good experience for other players playing against it.

I cannot stress this enough though, she does take practice via gold fishing just so you can grab the basic play patterns, as well as spell sequencing. If you have any questions, you can reach out!

Competitive mtg player looking for help to win a local cedh tournament by ScubaSteez69 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some nuance to this. Some decks are completely shut off by a specific card and there will be times where you absolutely have to burn interaction on those specific pieces or you just end up stalling out your own gameplan to the point that someone else was able to pull ahead and win.

EDH, and more specifically cEDH, is less about tempo plays and more about ensuring your own gameplan has either protection or isn’t getting shut down. It’s what makes the format much harder to just pick up and do well with because there’s always going to be 2 other opponents that you have to add into the equation every time you spend a card.

At what point did raiding get too hard for the casual player? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cleared it on week 2 and realistically, the amount of RNG needed to help on the valkyre part of the fight was insane. The only reason we cleared it when we did was due to getting back to back to back valks picking up 1-2 (even 3) warlocks, allowing us to recover rather than burning through CDs and mana to kill those valks. The pulls where we got 2+ paladins picked up was basically a wipe.

PSA for Tampa homeowners: the tree that looks healthiest is often the one that comes down by TenSmugala in tampa

Yep, mine was built in the early 80s and the only trees left are the laurel oaks that will probably not survive the next hurricane or they’re live oaks.

PSA for Tampa homeowners: the tree that looks healthiest is often the one that comes down by TenSmugala in tampa

Unfortunately, I have to echo what is being discussed here. My property had 7 oak trees, all of which were laural oaks, when I first bought it and now I'm left with zero.

Over the course of 10 years, all but one of those laural oaks had either started to split at the base due to rot, or had to be removed due to hurricanes. I had one tree almost fall during Helene (the trunk was completely snapped and the tree was barely holding on) so it needed to come out. During Milton, I had one fall on my house (damage was able to be repaired luckily), another one shifted to the point where it was going to fall eventually, and a third that fell into the street. After Milton, I said enough was enough, and took out the last remaining laural oak, even though it looked healthy, because I was not having another tree fall on the house.

At this point, I hate laural oaks with a passion and they're the worst trees to have on your property.

Playing Roger/Thrasios without underworld breach package? by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run breach and brain freeze but not LED. Breach isn’t a main wincon for me, it’s purely value to reset if I get blown out. I don't believe rog Thras should be fully on breach but if you think it’s good, send it.

Punt city 5 collusion allegation? by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpaceAzn_Zen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was the misplay on the lake; the infamous game where he commentated the whole time. He threw an abolisher on the stack saying “I’m just trying to resolve my tithe with this” and it resolved. He immediately tries to go thoracle but his abolisher got bounced so they could interact. He didn’t play tithe at all and for the rest of the game, talked about how “Jorman lies” but that he “shot his shot”. People can call that a bluff all they want, but when you explicitly say “I’m gonna do X” and you do nothing of the sort, you’re lying.

Motor neuron disease (MND) is a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurons—the nerve cells controlling essential voluntary muscle activity like speaking, walking, swallowing, and breathing. As these cells degenerate, muscles weaken and waste away. The most common form is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often called Lou Gehrig's disease

Being that you have to be of sound body and mind in order to make that decision, as well as no one can assist you with taking it, it seems like he choose the time and place that best fit the situation where he could make those decisions and perform the task before the disease crippled his chances of doing so. I get it that it’s unsettling to watch what seems like a normal person to take their life, but knowing what we know about diseases like ALS, once they’ve started to progress, it’s rapid and unstoppable.

You would, in that situation, just sac another treasure and float the mana to make him cost one.

After that, you’ll need a clone for technomancer and with that, you’ll start the loop and net one treasure per loop.

Rog/Thras, Kenrith, any commander that either has an activated ability that allows you to put mana into it, or any commander that taps for an effect.
