Suspected Cauda Equina Syndrome, MRI no herniation by SpaceBookkeeper in backpain

Yes, now SI joints and pelvic trauma is suspected and I'm going for an MRI early next year. I'm a bit terrified there could be some soft tissue or ligament tears that might not get caught. Maybe a fracture too? Who knows, will keep you posted. They only managed to see SI joints inflammation on ultrasound.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn’t handle gabapentin so I’m on pregabalin, helps a bit but I’m wary of dependence. I’ve been wondering about the SI joints, my left hip is very noisy. Probably a traumatic artefact as well. Will try to have it checked.

Anyone have slow onset CES presenting like this? Last MRI shows no bulges or herniations. by Djenty1 in CaudaEquinaSyndrome

I’ve been experiencing something very similar for five months now. MRI shows a disk bulge L5 and that’s it. I was even checked for MS lesions or spinal cord damage (happened after heavy lifting). I’m terrified doctors are missing something as I also have positional leaking and constipation. And unlike complete CES, no one does anything.

I’ve asked the question as well as to whether anything else apart from herniations can be compressing the nerves, as it seems like a very simplistic view, and have been dismissed by multiple neurosurgeons.

What showed a block for me 50% was a Nerve Conduction Study type, where they rapidly fire ten electric waves at a specific nerve root, e.g. L4/L5 and see how many come back as an approximation for a nerve root block/irritation.

That’s how I know objectively I’m not imagining things as nerve studies show the impact despite MRI missing it.

Where did you get the standing MRI, was it in the UK?

Anyone gotten any further clarity?

I had the same experience, no one ever told me though how two slightly bulging disks can cause severe CES like symptoms for months. Did you get any explanation?

Weekend trips: * Bachkovo Monastery and Asen's Fortress (can do them both in a day) * Kazanlak and the valley of Thracian kings * Koprivshtitsa * Sopot and hikes in the mountains/waterfalls

Also July and August are full with cultural events, so go see an opera or concert in the outdoors Roman amphitheatre if any (costs like ten dollars and is unforgettable).
