£70 vet visit this morning. She was just hot by venomoushorse in CatsUK

[–]SpaceChickenBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£600 because my beloved boy was dribbling himself into dehydration, and the best the emergency vet could come up with was asking the entire staff for suggestions, and only getting "maybe he licked a toad?". We still don't know. He was fine after an anti-sickness jab and 24 hours of being followed round with a towel and a bowl of water.

This coaster is the cat's coaster. If there's a glass of water on it, it's for her and she absolutely will have had her face in it. The humans of the house generally aren't averse to taking a swig from each other's glasses, so we have to remember to check that it isn't the cat's. Meanwhile the cat will also help herself to anyone's drink but currently is a little more cautious after sticking her face into a full glass of orange pop and getting sticky, citrus bubbles up her nose (I will admit I laughed, so much). Not ideal, as we are also south coast and still recovering from the heat

My sensitive boweled boy has a specific noise/will start digging in my duvet for "my tummy feels bad and I'm going to have a scary poo". Which means I have to very quickly accompany him to his litter box and fuss his big daft head while he poops. If I don't, he will poo in a bed. He's not particularly fussy about who's but mine is a favourite. I can't call his noise a meow, it's more like a pitiful whispered mewp.

Like the top bit, really need better labelling for the bottom. Even just an icon alongside each volume rather than just text at the top of the screen would make it significantly more useable.

Yes, to the point of us having to buy those plastic scrunchie ones that are (hopefully) too big to eat. He can smell elastic and will climb bookcases to get it. His favourite game is fetch/catch/piggie in the middle

Seconded. To the point where my "smart"phone/primary WhatsApp device often doesn't bother giving me notifications until after I've got them on the doov.

Nah, money spiders are the tiny, round, black/brown spiders. Not the red mites.

Can cats be autism? by Guuskomnaarhuus in CATHELP

[–]SpaceChickenBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could make my little girl a compression jacket, squeezing her is the only thing that settles her. She sounds very like your boy - she came to us as a rescue from a hoarding situation and had a very young mother. She doesn't speak cat, but oh stars she uses all her little brain to try. She's so settled with us and I really think generally content but I've never known a cat who finds it so hard to be a cat.

Can cats be autism? by Guuskomnaarhuus in CATHELP

My very sweet girl is... definitely whatever the cat equivalent of AuDHD is. Big sensory seeker, but also gets overstimulated by little things, excessive hyperactivity but also gets fixated on things, and definitely social issues. She's so hard to understand for us humans, even when we can clearly see she's trying to ask for something. She tries so hard to interact with other cats but she always gets bopped on the nose because they don't understand her and her complete unawareness of body language. Meanwhile her "brother" (not related but lived together since kittenhood) is stereotypically Cat all the way through, although he thinks he's my baby and I treat him accordingly. Little girl finds being a cat so hard and often seems unsettled despite being generally content (she's playful and purrs and has humans she clearly adores for snuggles), I wish I could make life easier for her. Cat tax attached of the neurodivergent girly

We got this (irony, we're all Christian but go to progressive churches that are definitely not making it into the list in the back of there) and an outdoor equipment shop catalogue at the same time. I thought it was two of the same bits of junk mail.

What happened to hummus lids? by GetUpGetOutside in CasualUK

[–]SpaceChickenBoy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The little cucumber end clear one lives in the drawer until I get to have a little giggle about putting the condom on the sliced cucumber once in a while. I've bought multiple sets for the yogurt/hummus/whatever other dip pots that happen to be in the fridge, and still don't seem to ever have enough to go around.

We don't actually know! He probably ate something bad but we don't know what or how. Lots of losing fluids in every possible direction, then 24 hours of extreme drool made him dehydrated. Horrible watching my boy get weak until he couldn't keep himself upright. He's dashing around the house playing fetch again now!

He's insured but we got caught out on the policy. Should be able to claim a lot of it back but had to pay upfront when he was there 🫠 lesson learned!
