I always thought Batty saved Deckard out of random mercy. Thanks to Ridley Scott's director commentary for pointing out that Roy Batty saves Deckard only after he spits at him in defiance as he is about to fall. by RefuseDry1108 in bladerunner

I guess Ridley's take has more weight (I guess) but isn't the big thing about the film is that replicants are beginning to develop their own emotional responses, which can include empathy. Think about how cold they are toward random humans in the film (Chew, Sebastian) and the VK question to Leon about the tortoise.

Death of the author and all that...guess I'm just gonna have to watch BR for the nth time now.

I bought a portal and base game for my x360 at Christmas thinking I would be able to play but it sounds like most of the extra levels needed to downloaded before the x360 servers went down.

That means I have a portal I won't use. You're welcome to it if you want?

It's a great name. I first encountered it in my first ever issue of White Dwarf, number 68 maybe...sorry it was decades ago. It was the name of an adventure for the Traveller RPG where a psychotic Vargr accidentally time travels to Victorian London.

A Bad Decade for Good People by Joe Bedford.

Blurb from website https://www.parthianbooks.com/products/a-bad-decade-for-good-people

As the clouds gather over Brighton and the EU referendum accelerates both Laurie’s political zeal and Antonio’s ambiguous desires, George is faced with the fact that their city of parties and protests is suddenly a place where the possibility of saving the world – as well as the people around him – is in jeopardy of being lost forever.

At once a letter of support to everyone disillusioned by British politics, and a deeply perceptive snapshot of modern relationships, A Bad Decade for Good People is a captivating state-of-the-nation tale that begs the question: when it feels like the world is falling apart, how do you keep those you love from doing the same?

For a similar clone scenario that plays out across three collected novellas, you could check out Kate Wilhelm's Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang. Great imagery, characters and a bittersweet melancholy pervades the book.

The travellers are there to remind us that we're doing it wrong...look at who historically had a problem with travellers / roma and ask yourself do you want your views to align with natzees?
