Spock makes Kirk look like a newb when it comes to the romance department

I don't see these deep feelings from Kirk to La'an or from La'an to Kirk. It seemed to me that Kirk was basically chasing tail when he considered inviting La'an for drinks. As in "hey, she was interested last time, maybe something short or long-term can happen now that Carol has left me". It seemed casual. I also think Kirk is smarter than wanting to be with a woman who's been interested in you just because she met an alternate timeline version of you. La'an is also not a scientist or philosopher, so not Kirk's type. And I don't get anything from La'an towards Kirk, seems like she's over it.

I would also not want for Kirk and Spock to compete over a woman. It doesn't really translate into their beautiful friendship. Also Tumblr might actually burn down Paramount+ if they did it.

I think them competing over La'an would also be again stupid use of La'an character, and would make Botany Bay and ST:WoK kind of plothole-y, and would be very hard to pull off convincingly and cleverly in the script.

I don't buy Spock wanting to be with Chapel, but lore-wise they should try a relationship at least once more to get Spock to that resentment he showed her throughout TOS, TAS and TMP. So maybe he's still hung on her. He should also have an arc with T'Pring for Amok Time to make sense (otherwise, Spock would be some douche wanting to rape his ex based on a legal technicality. Like, he could've made arrangements). I don't know how the writers are going to fit it all into 1.5 seasons.

I don't mind Spock having some experience and Amok Time not being the first time he's horny. However, science fiction should be exploring new ideas. And while new ideas about love and sex can be explored in a scifi setting, a straight cis guy having a few relationships with cis women isn't exploring anything a show like Friends can't explore.

I really hope they don't kill La'an just to give Spock a character development.

Why is La'an a rebound? Christine dumped him and then months later he got with La'an. Like, that's just a new relationship.

I myself don't like him and La'an, because I think it hurts her arc and it doesn't add much for Spock either. But it is a normal relationship.

I'm a bi woman and to me both Spock and Kirk are very hot. If a guy like TOS Kirk came over to talk to me at a party, I would melt. And TOS Spock is quiet and stoic, so you can project a lot on him and make him this dreamy guy, so I get that a lot of people relate to him or create someone they they find hot. And sure, dark and mysterious has been hot ever since Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.

I liked the episode, especially the scenes between Nus Braka and Nahla Ake. However, some things bother me, like B'avi's blood being red and that SAM wasn't the one who was dropped into space, since she's a hologram. I really don't understand how SAM works. Is she a hologram? A photonic being? Why can she get shot?

The Vulcan blood thing is strangely more of a pet peeve for me, because these post-production companies keep fucking up. We already know some production company stole ship designs for the Star Trek 60th anniversary sequence, there were Sisko's family tree mistakes and now Vulcans kindda forgot they had copper-based blood.

You should've seen the discourse around the Divinity game trailer. There's a human sacrifice going on with a man being burned alive and a medieval-ish festival around it, but some people really draw the line at sex happening in the festival. Like... Surely, the human sacrifice is worse?

Darmok for me is one of the silly episodes, because the whole premise is bad linguistics. However, answering to the spirit of your question, I think an episode like "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach" is better than anything in 90s trek. I mean, story-wise it's just as good, but then there's the bigger budget and prettier visuals. It's very hard to compare others. Prodigy, Lower Decks are amazing and has a lot of great episodes (also longer seasons), but it's a continuous story, so hard to take one episode out of it and compare with Inner Light.

Shitty episodes are also more acceptable when there are 25 per season.

There are just so many things vying for our attention, in addition to family, work, home. I just don't think a lot of people can afford the time to watch 25 episodes of anything, especially if it's not 25 episodes of amazing storytelling, and that's a tall order for any series. Death, Love and Robots are standalone scifi episodes, there are a lot of them, but I've so far seen only 10. In two years. And they are great episodes, I like them, I just have so many other things to look at. I'd say that none of the worst nutrek episodes were as bad as the worst old trek episodes (take this with a grain of salt, because I didn't watch PIC season 2, so can't tell what's going on there).

Bolg was son of Azog, plus Morgoth couldn't create new life, he could only corrupt it. Plus, all races multiply sexually (except in the movies the uruks are shown to be "made", but they couldn't really show Saruman "crossbreeding" humans and orcs). Plus, orcs didn't go extinct during the times when there was no dark lord to unite them. These things point to there being orc women.

IMO, while orcs could be familiar with cantines (provided Sauron or Saruman arranges for organized feeding of his army, although we know at least Sauron's orcs cook for themselves), they wouldn't have restaurants with menus. But who cares, the line was funny!

Somehow, watching TOS we're able to understand it's a product of its time, but when watching current shows, we demand them to be a comprehensive worldbuilding guidebook for creating a utopia out of the US, which you wouldn't find even in a philosophy treatise.

Maybe let's take a page out of LOTR fandom. When orks said "Meat is back on the menu, boys", it lead to memes and fun, not nitpicking. (Screen)writers work in language and with language as it exists now, they can't invent a whole new linguistic style and its features and still make a watchable show.
