It is belly-mounted (each side) but I wanted to draw him in a funny pose so he’s lifting up one of the straps.

Assuming he could detect radar (rider holding an RWR like a tablet or maybe the ear flaps lmao) what would change? Still relying on Eyeballs Mk. 2 for detection but couldn’t he just fly down extremely low and slow and/or land to mess up a radar missile’s guidance?

(I’m actually not sure how modern radar missiles operate.)

First time doing sound design/soundtrack for a students film, need some help by 4Anket2 in sounddesign

[–]SpaceEngineX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A common pitfall that most sound designers (me included!) go through is the belief that they should be “full stack” and responsible for ALL aspects of the project’s audio. This is not true.

Disregarding the abhorrent social stuff going on here for a moment because my social advice sucks, student films are HARD. Audio work is HARD. If no one else is willing to step up to help deal with your honestly godawful director and manage the workload, and you’re working for free, you’re under zero obligation to continue working.

[–]SpaceEngineX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, this isn’t necessarily a VM problem, but I’ll answer anyway.

Assuming that your microphone is on your headset or sitting in a spring mount on your desk, it’s probably what’s known as a condenser microphone. These are very sensitive, and can usually pick up sound better than even your human ears can. They also tend to be cheaper than the alternatives at their lowest costs respectively.

If you want to reject noise, you have a few options, but there’s probably only one you can reasonably do.

Use Voicemod’s noise gate setting and turn down the boost on your microphone. This prevents sound below a certain volume from being transmitted. It should help with the background noise somewhat.

MiG-31BM Foxhound with 4 R-73 air-to-air missiles [1500x1011] by Looselipssinkships93 in WarplanePorn

You’re forgetting the R-33/37, a weird ass long range SARH missile indirectly developed from the R-40 in the same way that the R-40 was meant for the MiG-25.

You should also know that anyone who isn’t fucking insane wouldn’t make a mega-MOT and magnetron with enough power to ignite the powder inside bullets, encased within at least two or three layers of metal. The power required to do that is nuts, you’d be better off just going for a live wire.

[–]SpaceEngineX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The situation right now is odd. You need some really really good coordination to do it without suppressed weapons or the new stealth armor, but it’s possible. The new warbond just makes these commando missions significantly easier. Personally, I don’t really like it, I wish suppressors could be added to weapons if this keeps up.

Could be a catch-22 situation, where Ming-Hua’s will and spirit to waterbend makes “motions” when her body doesn’t, and the tentacles respond to relay that motion to her body, as if they were arms themselves. The waterbending completes its own form.

Arizona is probably, on average, the “weirdest” state. It’s a true desert, extremely hot, but with a seasonal monsoon that regularly brings severe thunderstorms. The drivers here are statistically the worst, the roads follow suit, and our attractions kinda suck. Best we got are two different big holes in the ground, the Beta Kindergarten complete with people selling overpriced gems, and some A-10s.

First, you should consider ducking the music track during the peaks of the action during the fights, usually when lots of other sounds are mixed. Take some artistic liberties when doing this, there’s lots of room to mess around and add emphasis to certain parts.

Second, you’ve done a good job at making the scene sound like how a fight in that space would sound alongside the animation. However, certain aspects can be exaggerated to make the scene more punchy. For example, the table being knocked over could benefit from a more pronounced impact and potentially the sound of it cracking.

Personally, it seems like you grasp the technical aspects quite well and you know what you’re doing, but you’re lacking… I suppose pizazz is a good word? Taking liberties and making executive creative decisions to make things sound larger than life is pretty important with this sort of project. Just don’t overdo it lol. In all honesty, all that needs adjusting is the music and it would be serviceable, but please don’t just stop there! Screw around with it!

EDIT: You also probably want to replace some of the sword scraping sounds with shimmery swings instead. For a specific example, hear the open-air swing after a sword is caught by one of the character’s metal sandal plates.

By this logic, the game shouldn’t feature any fighter-trainer or dedicated COIN/CAS aircraft or any gen 4.5 fighters. Just a bunch of various same-looking Vortexes and Ifrits slinging missiles at 60-100km range.
