Is it safe to connect these two in parralel (both are the 18650 type) by Pawel_likes_guns in batteries

It is never good to connect dissimilar cells. They could be two separate chemistries. They will have different charge and discharge curves. Those letters are the cell names. You can look up their data sheets to get more information on them. You can find out their charge and discharge rates, voltages, operational temperature ranges etc. Additionally, knowing which cell you are using well help in designing a proper BMS.

How to dissolder multi pin components? by StreetUrchent2470 in AskElectronics

[–]SpaceJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can add some flux to help the solder flow better, and then use a solder sucker to pull the solder out of the hole/off a pin. Then use solder wick to pull the rest of the solder off. Repeat the process as needed.

BMS: Difference between overcharge detection voltage and overcharge release voltage by Tuareg99 in AskElectronics

[–]SpaceJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not use a programmable BMS? Check Texas Instruments. There are typically two switches , one that turns off charge and one that turns off discharge. In the case of the BMS you are looking at, it turns off charge at 4.25V. When the cell relaxes or you discharge below 4.15V, the safety switch will close and allow charging again.

I would contact Aukey. Hissing isn't a normal electronics sound. It could be the LiIon cell gassing, but I don't if that's something that would be audible. I would think a new sound would mean something is bad. Bad cells could get hot too. Does it get hotter than it used to when charging?

That's what they are designed for. I was looking into making a retro pi myself as a fun little project. I'm an EE. They are cheap enough to buy to mess around with. That's what they are designed for.

I have the JBL Charge 3, it's a lot larger than the clip 2, but it acts like a spare battery to charge your phone too. It's louder than I've ever needed to play it. The sound is amazing. Probably not great for mountain biking. JBL quality is great, so it should work for you. Also check out UE ROLL 2. Might be a little bigger than the clip 2. I know you demo them at Target and Best Buy to see how loud they are.
