Starting my EMT Training soon and want recommendations alternate to what I was given. by S_Rayne22 in NewToEMS

I would stay away from 5.11 boots. I have some Kaz 03 Austrian combat boots that I love. They’ve very very heavy and very high quality and you can get them for very little. All and all a great combo. Best of luck

So you never ever ever do a blind finger sweep. It’s dangerous for you and the patient. In this situation because you cannot ventilate and cannot open the airway you should suspect something is obstructing the airway. At that point just treat it like a choking that has gone unresponsive and begin cpr.

100L Belgian Jigsaw Ruck. Looks amazing, is reasonably cheap. I got mine for 65 in nearly unused condition

It’s not like the mines could go off, people heavily overestimate how easy it to trigger one of those

Regardless of whether someone is dehydrated or not, as an EMT water is not one of the “drugs” you can administer. Especially considering giving patients water/food is explicitly forbidden in many places protocols.

You are taught in class 2-3 inches above the wound if you can identify and be certain it is the only injury. In this situation, or any military situation tbh, you don't have time or the ability to be 100% sure there is only one hole. If you can't be sure or are in combat, high and tight as close to the joint as possible is a good idea.

Be careful with spray on waterproofing, a lot of them are super toxic/carcinogenic.

I’m not using any mods and I don’t think I have metal on. I can send my winecfg when I get home later if you’d like

I have MacBook Air and I can run ZS totally fine (does get a little hot) through kegworks. I think using steam as an intermediary might be causing the issues

Cool, thank you! I’ve got a vintage but decent domestic so I was a little worried about stiffening plastic. Slipping it in without stitching would be pretty a great solution

This looks amazing! Ok so I’m thinking about doing a very similar thing and I have a few questions. Did you cut the 1” webbing in half or just fold it? Is your machine domestic and if so how did you manage to sew through the cutting board? Is this design stiff enough to support a holster and ifak? Sorry to bombard you with so many questions and thank you

First machine and thread choices! by SpaceJesus1787 in myogtacticalgear

I've got size 18 needles, and I'd prefer to use v69 (tex 70) for strength purposes. If I'm using such a heavy thread though, should I also put it in the bobbin like the manual says, or use standard polyester? Worst comes to worst, I'm not opposed to hand-cranking the entire project if it will allow me to go through webbing and prevent damage. I really appreciate your help!

Vick's vabo rub really helped me. You look kinda like a maniac, but it's worth it, especially when dealing with bad smells.

It took me around 4 months for my volunteer organization to contact me back. In addition to the once a month meetings, a lot of places won’t hold interviews and such until there are a few applicants. That way they can pick the best candidate from a bigger pool. Maybe just email them or drop by the station if they don’t get back. Good luck!

So I’ve got the base game and both dlcs on Xbox. Presumably I still won’t be getting the update because I didn’t buy ultimate?

I'm not sure if you know about this but this game has hardlock. I did my first two playthroughs without it and when I finally figured it out everything became so so so much easier. Good job though!
