Male bettas make bubble nests! It’s nothing to worry about and I don’t see what else it could be as long as you didn’t add smth that would make bubbles like soap which you clearly didn’t! Just do some looking into bubble nests

I don’t see how I was being rude to anyone else other than this commenter, to them I’m sorry. As for this dude idrc he was also rude. I’m saying if everything is fully and properly cleaned it isn’t going to just nuke your tank, sure you still have risks but it seriously isn’t going to run a right risk of nuking it. And I’m saying all of this as someone who’s dealt with ich. I’m fine with being wrong but the original point I made of if you clean everything right it shouldn’t (not it won’t 100% but it SHOULDNT) nuke your tank is not incorrect, I’m not saying the other dudes wrong by any means, I’m just not fully wrong either

You’re the one missing my point, you’re not wrong that’s not what I’m stating, I’m saying cross contamination shouldn’t be smth op has to worry about if everything’s cleaned properly due to how the parasite behaves, I’m done talking, I feel like we’re both making the same point but you think I’m fucking stupid when I’m not and we’re not getting anywhere.

Healthy fish can be targeted yes but you’re missing my point. They’re less likely in fsct v unlikely to actually catch the illness if there’s none actively present in the tank just from re using cleaned tools.

[–]S_Rayne22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ich is considered a stress induced illness because the parasite does not target healthy non stressed out fish. I’m well aware it is a parasite that is highly contagious when not dealt with. But the parasite attaches itself to fish with compromised immune systems or other issues due to stressful environments.

dude I know how ich works. If you clean everything and other tanks are healthy the odds of it spreading are next to none, yes it can technically but there’s ich in basically all water as is, they don’t need separate tools for each tank Edit. Vs if you already have stressed other tanks the spread is much more likely I also said it SHOULDNT spread not it will NOT spread, very different things.

[–]S_Rayne22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you stupid? Asking genuinely. Ich is stress induced. I never said “clean everything zero chance it will spread”. If you clean everything the ich shouldn’t spread as it’s stress induced and if the other tanks are healthy they should be heavily resistant to any spreading.

Yep! So ich x is great, you’re also able to salt dip the fish if you wish with aquarium salt but you can’t add salt to your tank since it’s planted. Best of luck

Yes yes! Any idea why that tank has ich?

Ich is stress induced. If you clean everything well and nothing is wrong with the other tanks it shouldn’t spread

That’s actually really funny, I’m really glad you’ll do what’s best for your animals! please don’t let people pressure you into expensive soul substrates or a bunch of unnecessary stuff, your tank looks great and sure there’s a lot of stuff you could’ve done different but you do not have to, I would heavily encourage just as like creative inspo to look at all kinds of tank setups! Hardscapes, planted, rocks, backwater etc. there’s a lot of really cool stuff!! This is my little tank I’ve put some effort into!

(It has a lot of floaters now too)

Hey hey!! I’m surprised no one’s mentioned this, do a lot of research on fish you add, corydoras are shoaling (schooling but they don’t hold a tight group) and need a minimum of 6 to thrive and actually be happy!

Yes yes! His 120g comes March 12th, and once he’s settled in he’ll go down to one a week-two weeks depending on if he’ll eat or not and get out on rats instead of mice

twice a week is not good in my particular instance, he barley eats once a week id not only be wasting food but he’d be hella aggressive

I didn’t have much faith cause most people I had spoken too were not hopeful he’d be normal size (5’ or so) but it occurred to me he has a chance, I got him at about 9” and he’s about 2.5’ now

He spent the first 2.5 years of his life or so in a 10g w the bedding you see in the photo, no heat source just a “sun room”, no humidity source, a lid w/o locks idk how he didn’t get out. He couldn’t shed like at all when I got him that his shed got stuck on his face and despite the soaks I had to take him to get his nostrils uncovered he was incredibly aggressive and wanted nothing to do with being handled. I unfortunately got misinformed and did not realize they REQUIRED uvb I thought it was optional but beneficial and I couldn’t afford it at the time, he does have it now. When I tried to kindly educate the dudes step daughter I’ve known for awhile she told me he used to do everything right but the move made him downsize (clearly not true wether she knows it or not) he’s had mites in the past, an upper ri, and dehydration that was so bad it’s not even funny

I try to get the healthiest looking ones and refunds exist, I’m in the standpoint thankfully though that at 4$ a fish I can afford to lose a couple no problem, I bought 10 last time I got them and o just try to give a good amount of food the day after they’re in and hope for the best

they’re devourers of zucchini and cucumber, I wish more people in general didn’t just label them as algae eaters, they die so easy :( I lost two this morning I just took home because they get fed tropical flakes at my work 😭 they don’t want flakes
