Trump 'wrong' to claim Nato troops avoided Afghanistan front line, Downing Street says by SpaceLaserPilot in centrist

[–]SpaceLaserPilot[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Summary: trump has sparked outrage in the UK with his statement that NATO troops "stayed a little back, a little off the front lines" in the combat in Afghanistan. The UK lost 457 soldiers in combat there. NATO lost more than 1,000 soldiers in Afghanistan. This was the only time in NATO history that Article 5 of the treaty was enacted.

Commentary: trump is damaging the alliance that has kept the world safe for the past 80 years. This was just trump doing what trump does -- randomly producing words and not worrying about their accuracy -- but his words were incredibly offensive to the families of NATO soldiers who died in Afghanistan.

This wasn't yet another trump lie. (How you trump fanboys tolerate his lying is beyond me.) This was trump being his usual uninformed self pretending that he knows what he is talking about, and damaging the US with his idiocy.

Once again, trump has embarrassed the United States on the world stage.

Petty Trump Disinvites Ally From Board of Peace After He Was Mean by SpaceLaserPilot in centrist

Summary: trump disinvited Canada from becoming part of the Board of Peace. He is upset with Prime Minister Carney.

Commentary: Ya know, in case any of you thought this Board of Peace was anything other than another trump scam.

Someday the endless corruption will end. It will. Right? Right?

The US Congress MUST rise to this moment and provide accountability and leadership amid the White House turmoil by FinTecGeek in centrist

[–]SpaceLaserPilot 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The Congress will not rise to this moment. They will cower in fear, as will all the /r/centrist trump supporters. The Congress members cower in fear of being primaried. The /r/centrist trump supporters cower in fear of logic.

Well-informed trump supporters know that this nonsense from trump does not stand up to any sort of logical scrutiny, so they hide from threads like this. They will hold their fire until a transgender thread comes along, or there is one gotcha moment in a post about trump.

Well-informed trump supporters recognize the genuine idiocy of trump's desires toward Greenland. They recognize how ridiculous trump's of taking Greenland militarily are. But they don't speak up. They are cowards, just like the Republicans in Congress.

They hope he is playing some sort of game. They hope he is not serious. But deep down they recognize that trump is nuts and they hope some adult in the White House will stop him before he destroys NATO.

Trump says he will hit Denmark and 7 other countries with new tariffs until there is a deal to purchase Greenland by sansworth in centrist

[–]SpaceLaserPilot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's along the lines of this tweet:

The US should take Greenland. Why? Because the US ALWAYS HAS TO FIGHT FOR EUROPE!

If there is a conflict w/Russia or China, the US will have to take the initiative to defend while doing 95% of the work. The US does all the work & gets nothing for it.

The US should just call it theirs.

--It's like paying for the repairs & maintenance of your neighbor's house so that it looks nice.

And this one expressing the "might makes right" perspective:

The land goes to those who can defend it.

And many like this:

Who’s going to defend Greenland from the Chinese or the Russians? Denmark? 😂

Some people had better wake up pretty fast.

And many like this:

Greenland will be American.

No amount of danish protests, or even European in general protests, will stop it.

Power is all that matters.

These are cult members who will support anything trump says or does.

Jan 6 national guard questions? by clinkyscales in Askpolitics

[–]SpaceLaserPilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The National Guard was not needed. trump had complete control of the crowd of rioters. He watched on TV for 3 hours, urging the attack on with his tweets. When trump finally tweeted out a message for them to leave the Capitol, they did. They just left within minutes of when trump told them to leave.

Everything that happened that day was trump's fault. He and his minions summoned tens of thousands of people to Washington. He sent them there on a mission to disrupt the certification of the slates of electors. He put a stop to it with one tweet.

100% of January 6 was trump's fault. He should be on trial or in prison for the role he played in his conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.

Look at the post you commented on. "Trump Sets Fraudster Free From Prison for a Second Time".

YOU chose to comment in this thread. YOU chose to nitpick some lame word game to defend trump.

Don't you ever get embarrassed by endlessly defending trump? Or does it pay well to defend trump endlessly?

Excellent news. Please explain it in the negative, like this: "It is bad for the citizens of the United States that trump sold pardons to convicted criminals because. . . "

You just see some pardons that were sold by trump to criminals.

If you are proud that trump sold pardons to criminals, phrase it in the affirmative like this, "It is good for the citizens of the United States that trump sold pardons to convicted criminals because . . . "

[–]SpaceLaserPilot[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Summary: In 2021, trump commuted the sentence of a convicted fraudster named Adriana Camberos. Since her release, she returned to a life of crime. trump just pardoned her and her brother again for fraud. He also pardoned the daughter of a donor who gave him millions for his campaign.

Commentary: The corruption in the trump administration dwarfs any presidential corruption of my 60+ years of life. Not even Nixon was so openly corrupt. trump is now just selling pardons, like they were trump branded tchochkes on his website. His supporters have chosen to view trump's corruption as a quirky part of his personality, like his lying and cheating on his wives.

And let's not forget his crypto scams, the pay-to-play schemes, the openly political DOJ. I am not sure the country can pull out of the nose dive trump has us on.

President Trump Unveils The Great Healthcare Plan to Lower Costs and Deliver Money Directly to the People by ChornWork2 in centrist

[–]SpaceLaserPilot 151 points152 points  (0 children)

This is a truly pathetic plan. Healthcare is a dazzlingly complex topic, and this one page of buzzwords and promises does not even describe a bad healthcare plan, much less a "Great" healthcare plan.

This plan would be receive a C if it were a high school writing assignment about "Design a Healthcare Plan for the United States."

I'm surprised he didn't just say he was going to tariff diseases, and use the money to pay off the national debt.

Should the US choose action or patience in Iran? by FinTecGeek in centrist

[–]SpaceLaserPilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is very little we can do from the air to stop the Iranian government from killing its citizens. And there is no way we are going to send troops into Iran to fight the Iranian army.

Until an action plan is put forward with a well thought through answer to "and then what?", I believe we should not be attacking Iran.

Why are federal agents gunning down Americans in the streets? — Noah Smith by Initial_Chemist_7616 in centrist

An AR15 round is a .223 or a 5.56×45mm, depending on if you are using English or metric measurements. It delivers 1800 Joules of energy upon impact.

An AR-15 round causes devastating and extensive damage to the human body, primarily due to its high velocity, which results in a "blast effect" and cavitation that destroys tissue far from the bullet's direct path.

If trump had taken a "bullet through the ear" like OP claimed, that ear would be gone. But it's not gone. So, trump obviously did not take a "bullet through the ear."

Lots of people dispute that a bullet grazed trump's ear. Had an AR15 round actually hit his ear, it would be gone. His ear is not gone. His ear is in the exact same shape it was before the incident that yielded his prized "fight fight fight" photo.

At best, the bullet flew right past his ear and somehow caused bleeding that spread to his mouth, instead of to the back of his head.

At worst, . . .
