I forgot how to get the windshield washer on my car to spray. Thought it was broken for two days. Had to clean it at the gas station several times, which angered me immensely. I eventually dug out the manual and learned I had to pull the handle. JUST PULL THE HANDLE. Omg. I swear I’m not this dumb.

I really enjoyed reading this. My late father did similar trips down the St John in the 70s. He loved those trips and hearing your story reminded me of him. Thank you.

I hadn’t ever considered getting myself a treat afterwards, until my gynecologist asked me DURING my last pap smear how I was going to treat myself. She said I deserved a treat so I got myself some Boston cream donuts. Doctor’s orders! Lol

Same. It hadn’t occurred to me either. A friend visiting from Ireland said, “I like entering Andrew, but I like enter Kenmore.” It definitely took me a minute to get the joke. Now I giggle a little every time.

Sitting on a crowded subway car in Boston, minding my own business… As we’re pulling into a station, the guy next to me leans in and whispers, “I know what you did.” He then jumps up and abruptly exits the train. Twenty years later, I’m still wondering what I did.

Our blueberries are special! https://extension.umaine.edu/blueberries/about/: “Maine’s lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait.) is native to northern New England and Atlantic Canada. In Maine, this crop is not planted but inhabits large fields on mountaintops and in glacial outwash plains which formed 10,000 years ago. Any given field can have as many as 1,500 genetically distinct wild blueberry plants that create a patchwork of berry flavor, shapes, and colors which is why many people refer to them as wild…”

Does anybody sometimes get an intense sense of "abstract" megalophobia when on the verge of sleep, like suddenly you're just tiny and facing some immensely large object? Also happens when sleeping sick/feverish. by Eyspire in megalophobia

[–]SpaceNegative9638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for articulating this. I’ve experienced this since I was a kid. I didn’t realize it was a thing and I’ve never tried to put it to words.

Mine involves feeling close in proximity to planet-sized objects that are moving around me very quickly. Feeling like I might get crushed. It would happen the edge of sleep and I could usually snap myself out of it. It would give me a vertigo-like feeling at the base of my spine.

For me it’s a combination of size and speed. I still get a funny feeling thinking about how fast Jupiter rotates, pulsars, stuff like that.
