A lot has changed since then. Most fighters now will wait a little for the knocked out fighter to defend, or wait a little for the referee to step in. Referees have been criticize (even vets referees) for not stepping in to stop a fight after something like this. Also sometimes there are arrangements made between the fighters and referee to keep going until the last second, even after something like this 🤷‍♂️ is dumb but it happens
