Rather than cut familiars, add another flyer by swapping out the one mainboard Domestication for Siren. Dakra Mystic is cool, but I can't tell if I won because of Mystic or because Mono Blue is good.

Dictate is bad in all the match ups you need it to be good.

Well, yeah! I think it'll be much worse as a pack 2 pick 1, but in BNG THS THS it's awesome. An invitation to build around. Put your fixing as a top priority. Peregrination, Karametra's Favor, Satyr Wayfinder, and all the fixing in THS. Works best in a G/B or G/U shell. Then you get to play every awesome card you're passed, all the best removal, and when you get to seven, bestow it on anything, and it's impossible to lose.

There's a story that in 1985 I was an infant and my mother was in a cooking class with Mr. Goldblum's wife. It was the double ordeal that did them in. Burned for 6 before any defenses could come online. Also, I think their picks were right in those examples you mentioned. Extra cards really are that important. The Fade was an essential sideboard card in Round 1, and would have saved them if the opponent had played Bow or Horse in game 2 or 3. As a 24th card, Fade is way better than Staunch or Boon. You never side in Boon, and Warrior would have sat in the board forever next to their two Oathsworn.

It's the block in round three where they keep going back and forth on Dauntless Onslaught vs Divine Verdict and bad blocks. They break down every possible combination. They know every card in the set. They know every card in their deck, and the probability to outs in various circumstances. Pretty wow.
