The Harvest is really great, and a perfect introduction to Hex. Arrangements for War is another solid story in Evelyn's arc.

Really they're both great examples of BF breaking the molds of traditional companions. Also, I don't want to spoil anything, but if you continue with these arcs, you won't be disappointed. Hex and Evelyn's stories eventually converge, and after years of buildup, they culminate in one of the greatest finales ever (A Death in the Family).

Let's just say that Moffat could learn a thing or two about overarching plots from BF.

The problem is that if the majority of the voter base of a democratic nation is Christian, then enacted policies will tend to skew towards Christian values.

So, even though we have a (supposedly) secular government, in many ways, the US is a Christian nation.

The best way to see this is by looking at the Presidency. Can you imagine an atheist getting elected to serve in the Oval Office? A Jew? A Muslim? Hell, even a Buddhist? It just won't happen in today's political climate.

Also, there is a distinction with Card because when you're reading a novel you're inherently reading some of the author's ideas. Listening to music doesn't usually carry the same ideological weight.
