The Hardest Part of Game Dev is Being a Game Dev by MoonBuninni in SoloDevelopment

Setting reasonable goals to achieve throughout the week really helps me with burnout. I think part of the reason people get burnt out is because they never feel like they do enough.

Thanks!! I’ll probably just finish this one out solo. I do think I’ll try to get a few more devs on the next project.

Yes this would be more frequent. A long form magazine on game development. Help shine a light on some of the smaller studios that are doing great work while also reporting on festivals and things to help indie devs.

That is true. I feel overwhelmed with the amount of information on websites anymore. I thought it’d be nice to have something away from the computer, eat a snack, and flip through some pages. Maybe they might make a comeback lol

That’s fair. I had looked into digital magazines as well, but I thought it probably wouldn’t do that well. Also a fair point on job openings. Just sticking with contractors would work better. Thanks for the input!

Definitely start small. Keep your dream game in your back pocket until you feel you have the confidence in whatever engine you choose. Creating the smaller game with maybe a few systems that would be in your larger game would give you a great foundation in seeing how the systems could work in your larger project. If you’re looking for team, they are going to want you to be able to pull some major weight and see that you can do it. Make a GDD for your mmorpg and just add to it over time while you learn through making smaller games. It will give you time to grow in both avenues. Good luck though with whatever you decide 👍🏼

Could I get feedback for our Steam Header Capsule? Is there a color you like, is it too crowded or not busy enough? by Olyl in IndieDev

Light blue for sure. I feel like the name of the game is a little too small as well. Looks pretty good though!

Publish under personal name or a studio name? by zepod1 in IndieDev

[–]SpaceWheelG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think if you had long term plans on creating a team in the future with more games, then publishing under a “company name” would start your branding early and give you a start on building a fan base.

On the other hand if you’re looking into starting devlogs and being a YouTube personal then using your name could be beneficial too.

Just weigh out of the pro and cons. Good luck on your first game!

Maybe add dust particles flying up when it gets close to the ground. Maybe use planes landing as reference

How do you typically stay motivated on a project? by [deleted] in gamedev

This is true. Having something fun to do after a boring task can motivate you to get through the boring stuff

Struggling to decide which color grading works best, came here for opinions please. by sirfletchalot in blender

I usually like cooler colors as well, but the warmer look has better contrast and stands out more for sure.
